138 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1253. Membrane 3-cont. Roger de Leyburne has 40 marks fee and 20 marks gift in the wardrobe. He is paid down to Michaelmas in the 38th year. John de Amblaone has 20 marks fee. He is paid down to Easter in the 38th year by lib[erate]. Also he had 10 marks gift in the Exchequer and 10 marks in the wardrobe. Erm' de Saya, messenger of the lord of Blaye, has 10 marks imprest on his lord's fee. William de Monte Revelli has 60 marks from the wardrobe on his fee, and had 60 marks before in the 37th year. To the Sunnevill brothers 20 marks bn their fee. Reynold de Drumare has 10 marks gift in the wardrobe. The prior of Newburgh has 60 marks gift. Roger de Sancto Johanne had 60 marks for losses and wages down to Christmas. To Waleram the German. Contrabreve to pay 10 marks and 20 quarters of wheat without delay out of the issues of his bailiwick to Guibert de Rue, going with the king to Gascony, for his maintenance. June 14. Liberate without delay and without fail to Bertram de Crioyl, Winchester. constable of Dover, 320 marks for Easter term in the 37th year of the 640 marks which he receives yearly for keeping that castle. By P. Chaceporc. To the sheriff of Somerset and Dorset. Contrabreve to feed 500 poor at Tarente for the soul of the late queen of Scotland on the day when the stone which the king is having made is to be placed over her body. To the sheriff of Hants. Contrabreve to let the bishop of Bath and John Maunsell, provost of Beverley, who are about to go on the king's errand to Spain, have the bridges and hurdles which they require for their two ships. Contrabreve to spend up to 1001. out of the issues of the manor by view and testimony of lawful men on repairs of the buildings of the said castle, and of bridges and walls and other things needful, and in the maintenance of the king's [buildings?] in his castle of Pikering.
