37 HENRY III. 133 1253. Membrane 4 —cont. herein out of the woods nearest to Portesm'. The cost is to be credited by view of Alan de Geudeford, or of other good and lawful men if he cannot attend thereto. June 3. To the sheriff of Essex and Herts. Contrabreve to levy 40s. Canterbury. with all speed from Master Robert de Gravele of his fine for himself and his sureties for non-appearance (quia retraxit se) against Nicholas the chaplain of Langenhoc; 20s. from John de Blumvill of his fine for trespass against the said Master Robert; half a mark from Adam de Sumery of his fine for himself and his sureties for non-appearance; and 40s. from William de Hulmo, keeper of the priory of Typpetre, of his fine for trespass against Philip son of Robert and Reyner, bailiff of Wycham; and to pay these sums to Nicholas de Turri in part payment of 201. for Easter term in the 37th year of the 401. which he receives yearly to maintain himself in the king's service. Like order to the sheriff of Huntingdon to levy 6- marks from the abbot of Thorneye for leave to agree with the abbot of Rameseye, and 100s. from the abbot of Rameseye for the same, and to pay it over to Nicholas de Turri as above. Like order to the sheriff of Kent to levy 5 marks from Hamo Crevequer, being his fine made before the king for leave to agree with the earl of Gloucester, and to pay it to Nicholas as above. June 5. Allocate to the sheriff of Kent, in the farm of the county, 71. 15s. Rochester. spent on the transport of the master of the Templars in England, the prior of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem in England, Nicholas de Molis, and Henry de Wengham, at the port of Dover. June 4. To John de Sumercote, keeper of the exchange. Contrabreve Canterbury. to repair the building of the exchange at Canterbury where necessary out of the common issues thereof, the cost to be credited by view. To the sheriff of Kent. Contrabreve to buy a set of vestments (unum vestimentum) with towels and other appurtenances, a missal, an antiphonary, and a chalice of average price by view and testimony of lawful men for the chapel of the king's castle at Rochester, the cost of the whole not to exceed 100s. To the same. Contrabreve to buy a set of sacerdotal vestments and two small bells and give them to the lepers of Ospringe of the king's gift for their chapel. To the same. Contrabreve to pay 45s. to Richard de Green, vintner of Rochester, for a tun of wine, and 41. 10s. to William Funtayne, vintner of Rochester, for 2 tuns taken for the king during his present journey in Kent.
