A Didrachm of Heracleia (illustrated) shows the signature A only on Lt3. and is a variety of the piece illustrated on p. 71 (Vol. I, 2nd ed.) and p. 47 (Signatures &c.). Sculptor of Barcelona; author of the following medals: Universal Exhibition at Barcelona, I888 (varieties); - Columbus; 4th centenary of the discovery of America, I892; - The Law of 7. February I895; Agricultural Show of Barcelona, 1898; - Exposition of Aviculture of Barcelona, 1899, etc. As a portraitist, the work of this Medallist is mediocre, says M. Vives; his reverses are better. ARNAUD, ALOYSIO (B. D. M., Vol. I, I904, p. 78). This Engraver's signature occurs further on the 1Et. of a medal on the Accession of King Francis I. of Naples, I825, and on a Marriage medal of Ferdinand II. with Maria Theresia, 1837; also on a Portrait-medal of Ferdinand II. 1846 (obv. ALOY. ARNAUD SCVLPSIT-D. CICCARELLI. M. P. and on PL. T. ARNAUD DIR.-ALOY.ARNAUD FECIT); View of Caserta Palace; 73 mill.; - Reverses of Catenacci's medals to Flavius Gioja, P. Ovidius Naso, Vitruvius, etc. ARNAUD, L. (Ital.). Engraver of Naples, whose medals date from the third and fourth decades of the nineteenth century. His signature occurs on the I3L. of a Marriage medal of Ferdinand II. I837, and on that of the medal commemorating the Seventh Congress of Italian Scientists at Naples, I845, AE. 65 mill. ARNAUD, MICHELE (Ital.). Engraver and Modeller of Naples, in the service of the Bourbon Court. In I799 he was paid Iooo Ducats for the modelling and engraving of a cup made of lava and mounted with gold, and twelve spoons in silver gilt with handles cut in oriental agate, which were intended as a present from King Ferdinand IV. to Admiral Nelson. The spoons were engraved with representations of Nelson's naval victories: Vide, Napoli Nobilissima, III, I86.
