- 210 - DAUTEL, PIERRE VICTOR (French). Contemporary Sculptor and Medallist, born March I9. 1873, at Valenciennes (Nord), France; resides in Paris. Pupil in sculpture and architecture at the Ecoles Academiques of Valenciennes; pupil in sculpture at the Ecole Nationale et Speciale des Beaux-Arts of Paris (Professors Barrier & Coutan): pupil in medal-engraving (Professor M. H. Du Bois). First exhibition (medal engraving). Salon des Artistes Francais, 1907. First and second prizes of Rome, medal-engraving, 1902; third medal, Salon des Artistes Francais, I907; Prix Departemental du Nord, 19I0. He exhibited the following works at the New York International Medallic Exhibition, March I9I0 Portrait de Mlle X.; Baron de Nervo; M. Fagel; - M. Edouard Sain; - M. Truc;M. Alfred Girard; - M. A. Chiqot; - M. Berthet; - Mme Lani; - Mme Guetin; - M e F. Dreyfus; - M. Barrere; - M"m Vve Galle; - Edmond X.; - Etude; - M. Morton; - Medaillons, portrait d'enfants; - H. Harpignies; E. Guillaume, membre de l'Institut, - Croquette, etc. At the Paris Salon 19Io, he exhibited a frame of Plaquettes and Medallions; also a Frame of Childrens' Portraits, in lithographic stone. By him is also a Plaque, Elegie 1904,,E. 64 X 45 mill. Among his latest works is a Plaquette commemorating the Centenary of the Reestablishment of the Order of Advocates, Paris, 19o0, and in 1912 and I9I3 he exhibited at the Salon Portraitmedallions and various strikes of medals, etc. The Valenciennes Museum preserves a collection of Dautel's Portrait-medals and Plaquettes. DAUTERT, KARL (Germl.). Contemporary Sculptor and Modeller, residing at Frankfort-on-M., where he was born on 27. November I87I. By him are Portrait-medals and Plaquettes on the Centenary of Robert Blum, I907; - Portrait-relief of an Actress; Portrait-medal of Ludwig Hermann Reiss, Frankfort-on-M., I9 I; -Portrait-plaquette of Prof. D1' Lucas von Heyden. His chief productions are Portrait-medals and Plaquettes, also Busts. He also has done good work as a Pastellist. Some of his works are represented in the Frankfort Civic Library. DAVALOS, A.
