36 USES AND INFLECTIONS. [Par. 45. EXERCISE. Parse the Adjectives in Exercise I., thus:Adjective. Degree. Function. Prooun. Mighty positive tells you what king. sort, or "qualifies" Whose - tells you whose, name. or " defines" Every - tells you how boy. many, or "enumerates" The other Adjectives in this and other Exercises may be similarly parsed. 45 Uses and Inflections of the Adverb. I. Uses. An Adverb may be used with - 1 (a). A Verb: " le declared positively that he would not come." 1 (6). An implied Verb having for its Subject a Noun Clause made up of the Sentence:(1) "He will positively not come," i.e., " That he will not come is positively true." 1 (2) "Perhaps lie made a mistake," i.e., "That he made a mistake is perhaps true."l 2. An Adjective: "IIe is very, more, less, least, successful." I Adverbs thus used are sometimes said to modify sentences.
