HOWARD PYLE: A CHRONICLE presses toward the end his desire to study abroad. It is, of course, useless to speculate as to what would have happened had he done so, but 'it is difficult to keep from feeling that, under the influence of French ideas and French technique, many of the things for which he has been most loved would never have been given to the world.
