RESULTS OF THE RUSSO-JAPANESE WAR It was the Russo-Japanese treaty of peace signed on September 5, I905, and the Sino-Japanese treaty signed on December 23, 1905, in connection with this treaty of peace that confirmed the altered situation in the Far East in consequence of the war between Japan and Russia. A survey of the Far Eastern relations thus established shows that the material and moral interests secured by Japan were not at all inconsiderable. It came to be recognized that Japan had paramount political, military and economic interests in Korea and that she had the right to take the necessary measures for guidance, protection and control in Korea. Recognition of this fact and right had already been made by Great Britain in the new Anglo-Japanese Alliance Treaty, prior to the conclusion of peace between Japan and Russia. The Russian influence thus absolutely expelled from Korea, the country came under the protection of Japan.
