'jK gills. (Selangor.) The thole-strap; v. liggis.
K- gilang. I. Radiance splendour, brilliance.
gilang-gmilang: dazzling with radiance, as a
gem; sparkling. Wajah-nya gilang-gelilang:
his face was radiant. Terbit-lah bulanl pernama
mnpat belas hari-bulan gilang-getilang: then
rose the fourteen-day-old moon, the full moon
radiantly glowing; Ht. Abd., 222.
II. A kind of toddy; a drink often mentioned in romances and poetry; Ht. Sh.; Ht.

giling. Rolling up, as a cigarette is rolled up;
rolling into a cylindrical or spherical shape;

JAi gilap. Lustre from a polished surface;
polishing; rendering lustrous; Ht. Raj. Don.,
50. Menggilap: to polish.
'jg gelek. The act of folding the hand or twisting up any portion of the body; a bent or
folded appearance of any part of the body;
the rolling out of the wax sheets in braziers'
work.
Menggelek: to fold (the hand); to bend (the
arm or leg). Menggelek-gelekkan leher-nya: to
arch the neck (of a long-necked bird); Ht.

XLS gilau. A variant of kilau, q. v.; Sh. Panj. Sg.

giyam. A tree (unidentified).
'< gemang. A fish (unidentified).
- giyan. Exhaustion (in the sense of money or
other property being exhausted); loss of all.

money or effort altogether wasted. Pelabor
orang bekerja: the rations of the workers; Ht.

Tauke labor: the (Chinese) capitalist financing
a tin mine in Perak or Selangor.
