L. 1. Literally either ' good silver of the fire ' or silver of a
good hrightness'.The meaning of lidu(m) seems to be either ' fire
(Smith, i, 8) or 'brightness (Lewy, I. c., from la '(tde ' to burn,
so that some kind of purified silver is meant. The rendering
' impure' (Sayce in Bab. ii, 10) is hardly, possible with the epithet
- SIG good'.
LI. 11-12. This phrase seems to mean that the debt is secured
on the debtor's person and property (cp. BI, 7 a, 14-16; B 1, 10-11,
1 8-20; B1 I9a, 9 10-11).
