Babyloniaca, études de philologie assyro-babylonienne.

NOTES UPON CT XV, 7-30 - BY ST. LANGDON. I have recently re-examined the liturgies in Cuneiform Texts XV 7-30, and add here such corrections as now seem to be necessary in SBP before a new edition appears. P1. 8 above 1. 1 == SBP 10, 28, the sign read bur is rather uril; the variant 24, 9 is, therefore, to be read ur-ri. g~r2 in these two passages is the word for run, hasten, (Iasamu, S'r) The correct reading is given by 24, 9 sil-ma' gir me-en =from my street I hasten. P1. 8 above 3 SBP 30 read lipis' not kin' for libbu heart. Also 1. 4. P1. 8 rev. 9 f. read balag-ga'-ni and balag. The translation should be: 9, Her lament to the lyre they raise, etc.; and 1 0, A lament on the lyre to the great goddess, a lament on the lyre to Adgigi, etc. PI. 9, 3 = — SBP 14, 15 read galu gain-ma-zu (?). Ibid. 1. 4 svu-.'e-ir can not be identified with SU -f NAG. The meaning of the passage still escapes me. (Cf. RADAU, MiSeel. Texts 1 3 V 9 f.) P1.- 10 obv. 13 perhaps correct the text to ki-duir-a-ni, "cLord, whose abode is the place of creative power (?),,3. For the title of Enlil sagmal ki4, cf. umun samalla an-ki-a IV R 53 1 38. PI. 10 rev. 8 = SBP 278, read gi-gun bal-s'ui me-a, for a tax of the ground it is. The last two wedges of the sign BAL slant to the left in the classical inscriptions but this distinction is neglected in the later period as also in the sign Mi!U. 1. REC 117; to BRcJNNow 7305 add uri = nahmaru. 2. Certainly to be read gir after gi-ri S BP 6, 16, not ha bar, as SCHOLLMEYER, MVAG 1908, 229. 3. Tlie root eri> in, to beget, in ei =acmdu male slave, ahurgal eria, begotten in the mountain, Gud. Cyl. A 8, 16. 4. Line 12.
