Babyloniaca, études de philologie assyro-babylonienne.

A LETTER CONCERNING K. 69. Oxford, June 2nd 1909. Dear Virolleaud: The photograph of K 69 which you have sent me together with some corrections of the published text by Craig in ZA X 276 ff. enables one to restore the text entirely, with the exception of the colophon which does not appear in the photograph. The text has been edited, as you have also indicated, by Joseph Bollenruicher in the Leipziger Semitistische Studien 1 6 pp. 30-42. It appears from the photograph that Craig copied the text with much more accuracy than B6llenriicher had supposed. Bllenriicher entirely misunderstood the first line of the colophon which should read a-ba ud-me-na-dim ma-a-a di-di-in " Now as in the days of long ago whither shall I go?,. The line is a liturgical note used at the end of sections of temple liturgies and has been discussed in my Sumerian and Babylonian Psalms p. 185. The catch-line of this text is enemmani enemmani. The tablet is probably the first of a series of liturgical psalms to the ",word n of Nergal, the whole series being called agalgalla eel sus- u the deluge overflows the harvests ~. I have recently edited all the great liturgies to the " word,, of the gods in the book quoted and made use of a considerable section of K 69 in the edition of the series uddam ki-anm-Wu. In fact the reverse of K 69 is a duplicate of tablet one Obv. 49 - Rev. 18. I give here the corrections to Craig's text and point out the corrections which must be made in Bollenricher's edition. The corrections already made by you in your letter to me I have caused to be indicated by your initial.
