72 72 ~~~~~ST. LANG~DON IV li 17, 13 a hul-li —es sub-be A'a-mu-ra-da-an~-sar-sar - " 4gladly he offers thee presents ". The object, is sub-he, repeated by an (for ni), ra " to thee ", da probably repeats the idea of agent; the line is incomplete and hence the verb form obscure. The verb belongs then to those compounds which take a direct object ie. to the second class. Gud. CyO. A I 1 3 nig-gal-gal-la S'u-imi-ni-sar-sar _- he offered large offerings '". Here the verh takes the oblique case as usual after compound verbs. The classical usage had become changed so that the compound sank into the second class in the variant (liscussed above (a late text). Classical verb first class, post-classical second class. 10. g u-d~i. This reading is -assured by the variant ~~ ~ in the name of the month 4 and Gud. Cyl. A IV 25 gi-duib-ba a~ag-gap-a su-imn-mi-d~i~ a shining tablet she held in her hand ". The exact meaning of.S'u-diii is not known. The construction employs the dative. The infinitive occurs Cyl. B VII 12 gag-gig' sag-irnin S'u-dii-a-da -" for holding the ensign of seven heads ". Again VIII 10-11 nam-X ki-gir-bar-la(ki) s'u-dii-a- da ~"for receiving the prayers of Sirpurla ". Whatever be the exact meaning, -the verb is a compound of the first class. I1I.IR Y stu-tr " deface" Gud. St. Ki 1 1-2 galu mnu-sar-hi [S'u-ijhb-ta-abh-Ftr1-a = "whoever defaces this inscription ". Compound of second class with direct object muz-sar-bi repeated by ab. Gud. St. B VIII 8-9 mu-sar-ra-bi gu-ib-ta-ab-(ir-a. -z Idem. Gud. St. C IV 8 mui-sar'-a-ba ~tu-ne-ib-(zr-a. The verb here takes the dative. The sense of" deface "is also lost in favor of the idea of " applying the hand ";this is evident from the omission of the infixe ta. We have here an example of a compound in process of change towards the second class.
