Babyloniaca, études de philologie assyro-babylonienne.

70 ST. LANGDON inflected in Sumerian, therefore the subject ends in a, the fornx of Ningi~~zidda everywhere. The noun in apposition has however ni the direct case. The form with object repeating S' should he mri-da-an-q,41-9,41 (phone tic for mu-da —ni-). Dec. Tab). (ihald. No 67 rev. 2 ge-ka-ka pa s'u-na-gatl-la-an — " the chief scribe has attended to the grain account ". Here both subject and object are omitted but the dative na is inserted. Literally " he has put his hand thereunto ". First class. 7. S-i~ u-zid-gjar " to do faithfully " Gud. St. B VII 7-9 digf-delg-~Ja d-jiingip7-suka-ge gu-zid-i~nmi-gar ~"he executed the orders of Ningirsu faithfully '", literally he put a faithful hand to the orders of Ningirsu ".Here im is subj ect, mni repeats the object Au-zid and d~iq-digr-ga is oblique dative. Interesting is the, double genitive ka-ge, ha oblique and gre direct. When the construct is oblique, the following genitive is also oblique, ie. ga or ha. Here ge is for the genitive of nin-girsu and ha genitive of the compound nin-gi7rsu depending upon the oblique case diig-d i4g-ga. Gud. Cyl. A 11 13 ur-sag ma-a duiqa Siu-zid ga-rnu-ra-ab-qar"oh hero, what orders shall I execute for thee faithfully? " mu subject, ra indicates a dative of interest (for thee) and ab is object repeating Su-ziW. The same phrase is repeated in Cyl. B 11 19-20 with the variant verbal form ina-ra-a-gar, ma the obliq~ue form of the m, class attracted to the vowel of ra. ~U-Zigr — 7adru (BR. 7124) appears to be a case of a compound in which the original sense of.~u is entirely lost, zig alone may mean " to rage " (BR. 2318). IV R 2, 22 c (old edition) Su-zig-ga-A.4'~ nadru perm. " they rage ". IV R 24, 33/34 ~u-b~a-an-z1ig (bunnata binfiti) na1ndurat " (the appearance of the limbs) is ferocious ". The Sumerian of this line 1. meg pl. of verbs is to be read as', eg, oil dependingi on the vowel ending of the verb. See the writer's article on the sign <TI in RA VI.
