Contrabreve to repair the barriers (licias) round about in the bailey of Winchester castle, which are broken down, the battlements of the walls round the offices (officinas), which have fallen, the lawn (pratellum) between the new chapel and the chapel of St. Thomas, and the one outside the door of the hall, and the wainscoting of the queen's wardrobe where necessary; the cost to be credited by view. To the sheriff of Surrey. Contrabreve to pay 201. of the king's gift to William le Bretun out of the perquisites of the pleas held before him in the sheriff's bailiwick, to maintain himself in the king's service. To the sheriff of Stafford and Salop. Contrabreve to pay 1001. to Griffin son of Wenunwen out of the first money of the issues of those counties, in recompense of his losses in time of war in Wales in the king's service. To the sheriffs of London. Contrabreve to carry 63 tuns of wine, which will be delivered at London by Thomas Esperun and Ernald Geroudun, the king's chamberlains there, to Windesores without delay to place in the king's cellar there. To the sheriff of Kent. Contrabreve to pay 41. without delay out of the farm of his county to the constable of Dover for 2 tuns of wine received from him when the king was last at Dover for the expenses of the household, and 208. for 20 sesters of wine taken from him for Guy de Lezingnan the king's brother, who remained there sick after the king's departure.
