514 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1260. Membrane 6-cont. other things, for which he would have to betake himself gravely to the sheriff. July 4. To Richard de Freitmantell, keeper of the manors of Kokham Westminster. and Braye. Contrabreve to repair where necessary the buildings opposite the king's chapel of Windesores wherein the king's household chaplains and clerks of his chapel have been used to lie, and to make a fireplace of plaster of Paris (plastro franc') on the floor thereof and a gate with a wicket between them and the chapel, the cost to be credited by view and testimony of lawful men, as the king wishes that A. bishop of Laodicea should dwell therein. To the sheriff of Dorset. Contrabreve to carry out the king's works at Gillingham according to the writ which he recently received, by view and testimony of Ralph de Hotot, king's clerk, letting him have 12d. daily for his expenses so long as he is engaged thereon, as will be told on the king's behalf by Adam de Grenvill, whom he is sending thither, seeing that Adam cannot be engaged on the said works on account of certain business of the king wherein he must needs take part. July 6. Liberate to John de Gisorciis 1281. for 48 tuns of purchased wine Westminster, and 41. for 4 tuns of prisage-wine taken from him in London about Whitsuntide by Peter de Gisorciis the king's chamberlain of London, as witnessed by Imbert Pugeys the king's steward. Allocate to William de Glouc', keeper of the exchange, in the issues thereof, 300 marks delivered in the wardrobe at Westminster to Aubrey de Fiscampis and Peter de Winton, clerks thereof, on Wednesday, the vigil of St. Leonard, to buy horses against the king's last voyage beyond seas, as witnessed by the said clerks; and 30 marks of silver in lieu of 3 marks of gold of which he made two vials of the king's gift to serve the high altar of the church of Westminster. By K. Allocate to Fulk Peyforer, late sheriff of Kent, in the issues of the county [and of the king's manor of Middelton],* 91. 15d. spent in repair of 16 gangways and 123 hurdles against the king's last voyage to the parts of France, as reckoned and testified by Imbert Pugeys the king's steward and Walter de Burges, marshal of the household. To the sheriff of Salop. Contrabreve to finish the works which the king ordered to be done by William Bagod, late sheriff, in the castle of Bruges, and which were not finished in his time, * Interlined.
