Liberate to Martin de Campo Florido, clerk of the receipt, and Westminster. to Master John de Glouc', king's mason, 1261. 17s. 81d. spent in repairs of the king's fireplace at Westminster, which threatened to fall down, in mending the conduit which leads underground to the king's bathroom and other places there, in repairs of the king's buildings there, and in making a conduit for the filth of the king's kitchens at Westminster to flow into the Thames, which the king ordered to be made because of the stench of the dirty water which was carried away through his halls, which used to infect (corrumpere) persons spending their time there; and to John Adrian 57s. for cloth taken from him lately before the king's voyage to France to make eight robes for eight of the king's messengers. By the justiciar. Liberate without delay to Peter de Moysy, knight, messenger of Peter de Sabaudia, to whom he is returning, 10 marks of the king's gift for his expenses. Liberate to John Hoyon, messenger of the bishop of Libge, 100s. of the king's gift for his expenses homewards. By C.
