486 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1259. Membrane 1-cont. Nov. 3. Liberate to the spigurnels 678. lid. for 170 pounds of wax to -Westminster. seal the king's writs from the Sunday before St. Peter's Chains last till the morrow of All Souls in this year, as reckoned by Wibert de Kancia, keeper of the hanaper. Allocate to William de Insula, formerly sheriff of Northampton, in the farm of the county, 201. Os. 61d. spent on corn, pigs, sheep, fowls, geese, eggs and other things purveyed for the king against the feast of the Assumption in the 40th year as reckoned and testified by Robert Waler[and], then the king's steward, and Aubrey de Fiscampis and Peter de Winton, clerks of the wardrobe. Oct. 30. To Agnes Bauzan, keeper of the hundred of Wutton. ContraWestminster. breve to let the keepers of the king's works at Windesores have 221. to carry on those works, that sum being due for Michaelmas term last of the 361. lls. 8d. payable at the Exchequer for the said hundred. Nov. 4. To the sheriff of Kent. Contrabreve to furnish and pay for Westminster. prompt transport at the port of Dover for R. bishop of Lincoln, whom the king is sending beyond seas, and his household. This is to be done with all speed, so that the ship in which he crosses may return against the king's passage at the said port. By H. le Bigod, justiciar. Oct. 30. To the sheriff of Surrey. Contrabreve to amend the paintings Westminster. in the king's great hall at Guldeford without delay out of the issues of the county, to paint a pall on the white wall at the head of the bed in the king's great chamber, and to make pictures (tabulas) and the frontal of the altar of the king's great chapel there without delay as enjoined on William Florentini the painter; the cost to be credited by view and testimony of good and lawful men. Nov. 2. To the sheriff of Gloucester. Contrabreve to roof and repair Westminster. the tower of Gloucester castle where absolutely necessary without delay, as the king is informed that it has been unroofed by the wind, the cost to be credited as above. Nov. 3. To Richard de Fremantel, keeper of the manor of Kenyton. Westminster. Contrabreve, so long as he is keeper, to let William, vicar of Siningbir', have 20d. yearly in recompense for damages received by the enclosure of the king's park of Kenyton. Nov. 5. Liberate to Hugh de Turri, king's clerk, 101. for Michaelmas term Westminster in the 43rd year of the 201. granted to him yearly to maintain himself in the office of buyer for the wardrobe.
