476 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1259. Membrane 2-cont. feld for the works of the church of Westminster by view and testimony of Master Alexander the king's carpenter. Liberate to Philip le Taylur, citizen of London, 121. for 8 tuns of purchased wine, to Peter de Lupe 101. for 8 tuns, to Peter Ca.. nache * 60s. for 2 tuns, and to John de Norwico 41. 10s. for 3 tuns; to Peter Martyn 40s. for 2 tuns of prisage-wine, to John de Ponte 41. for 4 tuns, and to Ermegald Jesse 20s. for 1 tun; all taken and bought in London in this year by Peter de Gisorciis the king's chamberlain of London. To Nicholas de Haudlo, keeper of the bishopric of Winchester. Contrabreve to pay out of the issues of the bishopric for 4 palfreys which the king has sent John......* to buy in the coming (?) * fair of Winchester. Sept..* To the sheriff of Kent. Contrabreve to [carry] * the timber of Westminster. 60 oaks, which Master Alexander the king's carpenter will deliver in the wood of Hamo de Crevequor, to Westminster without delay by land and water by 15 days from Michaelmas for [the church] * there, lest for lack thereof the works of the said church should remain undone. Sept..* To the bailiffs of Gloucester. Contrabreve to let the viewers of Westminster. the works at Gloucester have 40s. out of the farm of the town to repair the castle bridges. Sept. 10. Liberate without delay to Aubrey de Fiscampis and Peter de Westminster. Winton, clerks of the wardrobe, 550 marks to pay Frederick.............. * and others whom the king has decked with the belt of knighthood, to despatch other business as enjoined, and for the expenses of the household. Liberate to Hugh de Grandi Monte 30 marks for Michaelmas term in the 42nd year of his yearly fee of 30 marks. To the sheriff of Surrey. Contrabreve to let John de Shorne have 268. ld. out of the issues of the county, being arrears of his wages while engaged on the king's works at Guldeford. Sept. 11. To the sheriffs of London. Contrabreve to receive 12 tuns of Westminster. wine and 8 tuns of must which Peter de Gisorciis the king's chamberlain of London will take and deliver, and to carry them to Westminster and place them in the king's cellars there. * Membrnne damaged.
