To Henry de Farleg', keeper of the manors of Cokham and Braye. Contrabreve to let Henry, fitter (attiliatori) of the king's crossbows at Windesores, have his wages of 5d. daily, and Herlewin the Norman, William Blauncpom[eray], Engelard de Sinago, and Richard de Aubervile, king's serjeants dwelling in the castle of Windesores, their wages of 6d. each daily, all from Michaelmas in the 42nd year till Easter following out of the issues of Henry's bailiwick. Jan. 13. Liberate to Elenard de Seningham 40 marks on the arrears of Westminster. the fee due to him. By the earl of Gloucester. Feb. 13. To the sheriff of Kent. Contrabreve to repair where absolutely Westminster. necessary the defects of the tower of Rochester castle and of the bridge outside the great gate, and also of the gate itself, the cost to be credited by view and testimony of lawful men. Feb. 18. Liberate to John de Swyneford, king's clerk, 101. for Michaelmas Westminster. term in the 42nd year of the yearly fee of 201. granted to him to maintain himself in the office of taker of the king's wines. Allocate to the executors of Robert le Vavassur, formerly sheriff of Nottingham and Derby, in their account on his behalf for the time when he was sheriff, 351. for keeping the castle of Bollesovere for 7 years at 1008. a year, and 1008. for keeping Nottingham castle for the latter half of the 30th year, unless the money has been otherwise allowed to him. To the sheriff of Kent. Contrabreve to repair the breach in the wall of Dover castle, lately overthrown by excessive wind, and the wall itself where most needful, and to make a tower by the breach as Richard de Grey the constable will tell on the king's behalf; the cost to be credited by view. To the sheriff of Northampton. Contrabreve to enclose and repair where absolutely necessary that part of the enclosure of the park of Norhampton which it is the king's business to repair, the cost to be credited by view. Feb. 20.
