43 HENRY III. 447 1259. Membrane 7-cont. of the county, as she has not had them from Henry de Penbroc, formerly sheriff, as ordered. By H. the justiciar. To the sheriff of Hants. Contrabreve to receive all the moneys of the bishopric of Winchester which are at Hyde and Wlviseye by view of Peter de Nevill and Robert de Stopham, who have been sent thither specially for the purpose, and carry the money to Westminster for delivery to the treasurer at the Exchequer, as it has been provided by the magnates of the king's council that all moneys arising from the issues of the bishopric should be sent to the Exchequer. To the sheriff of Essex and Herts. Contrabreve, seeing that the king has granted to the queen the 34 tuns of wine which he lately ordered to be carried from Ware by water to Westminster, to carry them with speed to such places as shall be enjoined by Richard de Ewell, whom the queen has appointed to receive them for her, and to place them where she [shall provide].* Liberate to Ingram de Percy 30 marks arrears for Michaelmas term in the 42nd year of the yearly fee of 60 marks granted to him at the Exchequer till the king shall make provision for him to that value in wards or escheats, [he having received the balance for that term in the wardrobe].t Liberate to Aubrey de Fiscampo and Peter de Winton, clerks of the wardrobe, 1,000 marks for the expenses of the household. To the bailiffs of Windesores. Contrabreve to repair where absolutely necessary the fireplace of the king's wardrobe in the castle, which lately collapsed in a wind, and other defects of the buildings there, the cost to be credited by view. Jan. 13. To the sheriff of Surrey. Contrabreve to let Master Andrew de Merton. Prittewell the king's mason have 41. 10s. without delay, being divers arrears of the time when he was engaged on the king's works at Guldeford, out of the issues of the county or some other source. Liberate to Paul Albertini, Ermineus Eminei, and Bencinen' Consilii, out of the money coming from Winchester, 5501. borrowed on certain jewels, receiving from them the jewels and the king's letters patent (Calendar of Patent Rolls, 1247-1258, p. 629).
