396 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1257. Membrane 2-cont. Oct. 7. Liberate without delay to the keepers of the king's works at Windsor. Westminster 500 marks for those works. Oct. 8. Liberate to the king's brother William de Valencia 1901. for Windsor. this Michaelmas term of his yearly fee of 5001. Note that the yearly deductions of his fee are enrolled in the Liberate Roll of the 39th year under 2 April. Marginal note. In the first term should be deducted 201. 8(?)s. 6d. for the land late of Walter de Morton, a Norman, and 501. for the manor of Dun[h]am. Oct. 8. Liberate to Herlewin le Normand and others, king's serjeantsWindsor. at-arms, and to Henry, fitter (atilliatori) of the king's crossbows, their wages from Easter to Michaelmas in this year (as on p. 383) because Godfrey de Liston, who should have made these payments by the king's writs, did not do as commanded. Liberate to John de Wyvyle 30 marks for this Michaelmas term (as on p. 328). Liberate to the king's five chaplains of Windesores their wages from Easter term in the 51st (sic) year till Michaelmas following (as on p. 383), Godfrey de Liston having made default as above. Oct. 14. Liberate to Nicholas de Haudlo 30 marks for this Michaelmas Westminster. term of his yearly fee of 60 marks, to which the king has increased the fee of 40 marks which he used to receive to maintain himself in the office of justice. Liberate to Hugh de la Penn, clerk of the queen's wardrobe, 3041. 8s. 21d. to pay the expenses thereof. Allocate to the mayor and bailiffs of Oxford, in the farm of their town, 261. 13s. 4d. lately paid in the said wardrobe to the said Hugh at Wodestok for the queen's expenses. Liberate to Roger de Messinden, king's clerk, 101. for this Michaelmas term (as on p. 372). Liberate to Richard de Mineto 40 marks for this Easter term of his yearly fee of 40 marks. Liberate to Hugh Espaulard 15 marks for this Michaelmas term of his yearly fee of 15 marks. Oct. 15. Liberate to John de Lamfare, king's clerk, 101. for their Easter Westminster. term of his yearly fee of 201.
