394 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1257. Membrane 2-cont. To the sheriff of Salop. Contrabreve to wainscot the king's and queen's chambers in the castle of Bruges, to make two windows and a fireplace in the queen's chamber and a window in the king's, and a window in the king's hall, all without delay, the cost to be credited by view. Sept. 25. To the sheriff of Cambridge. Contrabreve to purvey 5,000 Worcester. pimpernolls, 200 ' steilingis,' and 100 live pike for the king in his bailiwick, against the coming feast of St. Edward, and send them all to Westminster by the vigil of the said feast for delivery to the keeper of the larder. To the sheriff of Lincoln. Contrabreve to carry 47 tuns of wine, left at Boston of the wines taken by Peter de Gisorciis, taker of the king's wines, at Boston fair last, which the king had ordered the sheriff to carry to Norhampton, to London with all speed to place in the king's cellars at Westminster against his arrival, not failing hereof as he loves himself and all his possessions. Sept. 26. To the agistors of the forest of Gillingham. Contrabreve to let Worcester. Robert Walerand, steward of the forest this side Trent, have 50 marks for Michaelmas term in the 41st year of the hundred marks granted to him yearly so long as he holds that office, out of the issues of the agistments of the said forest which are in their hands from past years. To the bailiffs of Shrewsbury. Contrabreve to let Hamo le Strange (Extraneo), dwelling in the parts of Mungomeri on the king's service, have a tun of wine of the king's gift out of the farm of Shrewsbury. Sept. 30. To the sheriff of Lancaster. Contrabreve to receive 8 bucks Woodstock. and 4 stags left out of 20 bucks and 10 stags taken in the forest of Lancaster which were to have been carried to Chester (as on pp. 391-2), and other stags and bucks which John le Naper will take in the said forest, and salt the venison and carry it to Westminster with all possible speed for delivery to the keeper of the larder, not failing hereof as he loves himself and all his possessions. To the sheriff of Oxford. Contrabreve to receive 20 bucks and 6 or 7 stags which Hugh the Frenchman, king's serjeant, has been commanded to take in the forest of Brehull and deliver against the coming feast of St. Edward, and to salt the venison and carry it to Westminster for delivery to the keeper of the larder by the vigil of that feast.
