386 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1257, Membrane 4-cont. Robert, to carry the corn to Bristol, and to carry 10 tuns of the wine to Gloucester to place in the king's cellars there, 40 tuns to Worcester for delivery to the sheriff to carry to divers places thereabouts as ordered, and the rest with the corn and victuals by water from Bristol to Chester against the arrival of the king and his army, as Robert will enjoin on the king's behalf; and the sheriff shall so bear himself in the execution hereof that the king may incur no damage by default of the sheriff or the transport, which would compel the king to betake himself seriously to the sheriff's body, lands, and goods. To the sheriff of Worcester. Contrabreve to receive 40 tuns of wine at Worcester to be delivered by the sheriff of Gloucester as above, and to place 5 tuns in the king's cellars there, and to carry 5 tuns to Kyderminster for the like purpose, and to carry 30 tuns to Brug' for delivery to the sheriff of Salop and Stafford to carry whither the king has enjoined. To the sheriff of Salop and Stafford. Contrabreve to receive the said 30 tuns, to place 5 in the king's cellars at Brug', and to carry 5 to Wenlok and 20 to Shrewsbury to place in the cellars there against the king's arrival. The abbot of St. Peter's, Gloucester, is commanded by writ of comp[utabitur] to let Robert Waleraund have 301. out of the farm of the barton without Gloucester to pay for wine, corn, and other victuals bought in the county and carry them to Chester against the arrival of the king and his army, for which provisions and money Robert will render account. The like to the abbot of Cyrencestre to let Robert have 301. out of the farm of the seven hundreds which he holds of the king at farm. The like to the bailiffs of Gloucester to let him have 201. out of the farm of their town. The like to William de Beyfeld, Ellis de Heydon, and Henry the clerk's son, farmers of the manors of Menstreworth and Reddeleg', to let him have 201. out of the farm thereof. The like to Ellis de Heydon, farmer of the manor of Nenham, to deliver him 10 marks out of the farm thereof. A writ to the sheriff of Gloucester to deliver him 100 marks out of the issues of his county or some other source is vacated because returned, and is otherwise at the end of this roll. Writ to Robert Waleraund to levy 1001. of his farm of St. Briavels and 100 marks of his farm of the bailiwick of Rokengham, and to pay for corn, wine, etc., therefrom as above. Writ to William de Dene, Philip Badirun, and William de Weston, sellers of the king's woods in the forest of Dene, to deliver 2001. to Robert out of the issues of such sales, and 201. to the
