Contrabreve to repair the king's great Windsor. stable at Windesores where absolutely necessary out of the issues of his bailiwick. March 2. To the same. Contrabreve to let the keeper of the king's garden [Windsor] at Windesores have as many stakes as may be necessary to prop up the king's vine there, with carriage thereof, and to repay him the 16d. which he spent thereon last year. March 3. Allocate to Philip de Aure, William de Dene, and William de Amersham. Weston, appointed to make certain sales in the forest of Dene, in the issues thereof, 731. 13s. 4d. delivered in the wardrobe at Amondesham to Artald etc. on Friday in the first week of Lent. March 7. Liberate to the king's kinsman Henry, brother of the king of St. Albans. Castile, 20s. daily for the maintenance of his household from Friday, the morrow of St. Thomas the apostle in the 41st year, till the coming mid-Lent, both days included. March 16. Liberate to William Gumbard 71. 15s. 3d. for gingerbread Westminster. taken from him for the king in the 37th year by the hands of Roger de Ros and of Richard de Shireburn, king's clerks. To the bailiffs of Suhampton. Contrabreve to buy a tun of wine and deliver it to the abbot of Netley (Loco Sancti Edwardi), as the king has granted him a tun yearly by charter for the celebration of divine service in his house. To the same. Contrabreve on their allegiance, seeing that the king is in very great need of wine for the parliament which he is to hold in London in mid-Lent, to carry with all speed to Kingeston for delivery to the bailiffs there, that they may carry them to the king at Westminster as enjoined, the 40 tuns of wine which Walter le Flemeng will deliver out of 120 tuns taken by Peter de Gisorcio, taker of the king's wines, and which the king commanded them to carry to various places to furnish his cellars there; not failing hereof as they love the king's honour and their own safety. To the bailiffs of Kingeston. Contrabreve to carry the said 40 tuns to Westminster for delivery to the king's butlers there. March 20. Allocate to William de Leyrton, sheriff of Lincoln, in the issues Westminster. of the last eyre of the abbot of Peterborough, Roger de Thurk[ilby], and their fellows in the county, 2631. 7s. 7d. delivered in the wardrobe at Westminster to Artald etc. on the Tuesday after mid-Lent. Marginal notes: (1) Istam pecuniam solvit in garderoba regis set nondum habuit inde breve (2) Vacat quia aliter inferius.
