340 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1256. Membrane 13-cont. Liberate to John de Besevyle 41. arrears of his wages while with the king on his service in Gascony, and 41. arrears of wages of William de la Bazoche his knight while in garrison at the castle of Blankeford at his expense, both reckoned by Richard le Rus (Ruffum), king's clerk, and 1008. of the king's gift while in Gascony; and to Henry del Bek 181. 8s. 4d. like arrears reckoned by the same Richard; receiving from them the king's letters patent therefor which they have, and first making payment as above (see note, p. 338). MEMBRANE 12. Allocate to Laurence de Percy the king's chaplain, keeper of the king's wards (wardarum) in the castle of Windesores, in the issues of such wards, 5 marks, whereof he has delivered 3 marks to Bernard de Bovill and 2 marks to Ingram de Percy for their maintenance. Nov. 12. Liberate to the prioress and nuns of Ankerwyz, unless already Windsor. delivered, 101. which should have been delivered by a writ of liberate issued in the 37th year to Walter de Bradeleg', formerly the queen's clerk, to take to the queen to buy a rent of 1 mark of the king's gift to the said nuns. Liberate to Robert Russell, queen's serjeant, without delay and without fail on sight hereof, postponing all other matters, 20 marks for the expenses of Katherine the king's daughter and a kinswoman of the king and the household that is to dwell with them at Windlesores in the coming absence of the king and queen. Nov. 14. Liberate without delay to Walter Shaylard 388. 3d. for bread Guildford. formerly taken from him for the king by Adam Maunsell, serjeant of the pantry, who has acknowledged the fact; payment to be without fail, as Walter has fallen into poverty for lack thereof. Liberate without delay to Henry de Roeng 758. arrears of his wages while on the king's service in Gascony down to the Thursday after St. Peter's Chains in the 38th year as reckoned by Richard le Rus (Ruffum), king's clerk, and 20s. delivered by the king's order to John Blench in those parts. To the sheriff of Wilts. Contrabreve to receive 10 hinds to be taken in the forest of Graveling and delivered to them by Richard and William de Candover the king's huntsmen, and to salt the venison and carry it to Westminster for delivery to the keeper of the larder by the third day before Christmas against the feast.
