338 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1256. Membrane 13-cont. expenses homewards, as the king is at present unable to pay his debt to William. To Godfrey de Liston, keeper of the king's manor of Kenyton. Contrabreve to let William de Westm', the king's chaplain of Kenyton, have 25s. out of the issues thereof as his wages from Easter in the 40th year till Michaelmas following. To the same. Contrabreve to let the king's five chaplains of Windesores, each of whom receives 50s. yearly, to have 25s. each as their wages for the same term out of the issues of his bailiwick. Nov. 8. Liberate without delay to William Bonquer 1001., and to Master Peter de Lymoges, king's clerk, 40 marks, for their expenses in going to the court of Rome to despatch certain business of the king there. Nov. 8. Liberate to John de Hyndale and Ralph de Frekeberne 81. 20d. Windsor. arrears of their wages while on the king's service in Gascony with 17 serjeants their comrades in garrison in the castle of Bourg with William de Trubbevyle, as reckoned by brother Robert de Manneby and William de Axem[uth], receiving from them the king's letters patent therefore, payment being made etc. Liberate to Alan Burnel 10 marks for loss of his horses on the king's service in Gascony as testified by Robert Waleram the king's steward, payment being made [previously of 4,000 marks to divers creditors].* Nov. 10. Liberate without delay and without fail to Drew de Barentyn, Windsor. going beyond seas to despatch certain business of the king that requires speed, as is well known at the Exchequer, 30 marks for his expenses. Nov. 10. Liberate to William de Munrevel, king's yeoman, 61. 98. 10d. Windsor. arrears of his wages while with the king in Gascony, as reckoned by Peter de Winton, clerk of the wardrobe. Nov. 10. Liberate, of the king's gift for their expenses, to Ernald GuilWindsor. lelmi, messenger of the good men of Saut, who has lost much in the king's service, 1008., to Raymond Guillelmi, messenger of the good men of Joses, 208., and to Arnold the chaplain of Saut 1008., as the king cannot at present pay his debts to the men of Saut and Joses. * See Exchequer Roll (i.e. issue Roll 1209).
