1256. Membrane l-cont.
Oct. 23. Liberate to Roger le Taylur, king's serjeant, 40 marks yearly,
Westminster. that is, 20 marks for Michaelmas last past, 20 marks for Easter
term following, and so from year to year, granted to him for good
and praiseworthy service, for life or until the king shall make
provision for him in wards or escheats of that value. This writ
is patent.
Oct. 27. To the sheriffs of London. Contrabreve to pay to Maunsell le
Westminster. Taylur, king's serjeant, 100s. arrears of wages of Gascony due to
him.
Note that the king has committed his manor of Pulton, co.
Wilts, to Nicholas de Sancto Mauro from Michaelmas in the
40th year till [the end of 5 years] during which time a deduction
is to be made from his fee of 201. See Calendar of Patent Rolls,
