326 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1256. Membrane 3-cont. Oct. 14. Allocate to the king's bailiffs of Basingestok, in the farm of Westminster. the manor, 20 marks delivered to Walter de Merton, king's clerk, for the expenses of a monk whom the king lately sent on his errand to the parts of Spain. Liberate to Ralph de Dungun, king's clerk, 40 marks for Michaelmas term in the 40th year of the 40 marks granted to him by charter yearly at the Michaelmas Exchequer till the king shall make ampler provision for him, after payments to merchants as above. Oct. 14. Liberate to Matthias de Mara 10 marks for Michaelmas term in Westminster. the 40th year of his yearly fee of 20 marks, after payments as above. Liberate to William de Cobbeham 20 marks for the same term of the yearly fee of 40 marks granted to him to maintain himself in the king's service so long as he is on eyre in the office of justice, after payments as above. Oct. 16. Liberate to Roger de Thurkilby 50 marks for the same term of Westminster. the yearly fee of 100 marks which he receives to maintain himself in the king's service, after payments as above. Liberate to Robert de Ferariis 501. for the same term of the 1001. which he receives yearly by way of marriage, after payments as above. Liberate to Peter de Burdegala, after payments as above, 161. 12s. 8d. arrears of his wages while with the king on his service in Gascony with nine other knights down to Thursday, the vigil of St. Kenelm, as reckoned by Richard le Rus (Ruffum), king's clerk; and 131. 14d. due for his seneschalcy of Gascony, as reckoned by Peter Chaceporc, formerly treasurer; receiving from the said seneschal the king's letters patent therefor. Allocate to Gilbert de Preston, in his debts to the king, 201. for Michaelmas term in the 40th year of the yearly fee of 401. granted to him to maintain himself in the king's service. Liberate to Roger de Leyburn, after payments as above, 20 marks for the same term of his yearly fee of 40 marks. Allocate to Thomas de Copmanwra, escheator in co. Lancaster, in the issues of the escheatry of that county, 201. delivered to Roger the tailor (Scissori) and Hugh de Turri his colleague, takers for the wardrobe at Boston fair last past, to pay for certain purchases made there, as they have acknowledged; and 401.
