To the sheriff of Wilts. Contrabreve to pay 40s. without delay to Reynold de Drumare to buy a tun of wine of the king's gift. July 12. To the same. Contrabreve to paint the doors and windows of Potterne. the king's chamber at Clarendon and the picture above the altar of the king's chapel, to make a glass window in the king's wardrobe, to repair other glass windows in the king's buildings where necessary, to make a privy chamber in the house of Robert de Stopham, to buy a cord with a bucket for the well and a fother of lead to mend and repair the gutters, and to mend the buildings above (ultra) the rock, the king's almonry, and the aisles (alas) of his hall where necessary; and to make a fireplace in the queen's chamber in the castle of Devizes; the cost to be credited by view. Contrabreve to thoroughly salt 50 bucks which the king has ordered to be taken in his forests of Melkesham and Chippeham and his park of Devizes by the earl of Warr' and Hugh le Fraunceys, king's serjeant, and delivered to him, and to carry 20 after him to the parts of Gloucester and Bristol and 30 to Wodestok against the feast of the Assumption. July 13. To the sheriff of Gloucester. Contrabreve to pay 5 marks withBristol. out delay to the abbot of Kaynesham to buy a silver cup of the king's gift to reserve (imponendum) the body of Christ above (ultra) the high altar in the conventual church of Kaynesham. To the same. Contrabreve to pay 1 mark without delay to Fortunatus de Luka the king's knight to buy a robe in lieu of the one he lost when the king ordered him to be thrown into the bath at Bath. MEMBRANE 5. July 16. To the sheriff of Devon. Contrabreve to pay without delay to Bristol. Henry de Bretton, out of the farm of the county or other issues of his bailiwick, 361. 13s. 4d. remaining due for Michaelmas term in the 39th year and Easter term in the 40th year of the yearly fee of 501. granted to him to maintain himself in the king's service.
