CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS.

1256. Membrane 7-cont.
Liberate without delay to Ernald, chaplain of Sault-de-Navailles
(Saltu), who has been disinherited in Gascony on the king's
account, 5 marks of the king's gift for his maintenance.
June 12. Liberate to John del Boys, merchant, 311. 13s. 8d. for 16 panels
Westminster. of minever bought of him at Paris in the 36th year by the hands
of Roger le Taylur (Cissoris), taker of the wardrobe.
Liberate without delay to Reymond Elye 41. for 4 tuns of prisagewine taken by John de Gisorciis formerly the king's chamberlain
of London.
June 12. Liberate to Guy Peverel 5 marks due for a horse lent to the king
[Westminster.] for a cart of the wardrobe when he was at Bois Poureau (Boscum
Peverel) on his way from Gascony to England.
Liberate without delay to Master Thomas the king's surgeon,
sick at London, 40s. of the king's gift for his expenses.
June 18. Liberate to Bonacius de Mediolano, after payments to Count
Merton. Thomas de Sabaudia and the king's brothers as commanded,
30 marks for the 39th year and 15 marks for Easter term in the
40th year of his yearly fee of 30 marks.
June 11. To the sellers of the king's wood in the forest of Dene. ContraWestminster. breve to pay 50 marks without delay to Robert Waleraund,
going beyond seas on the king's errand, of the king's gift for his
expenses.
June 16. To the sheriff of Salop. Contrabreve to repair where absolutely
Merton. necessary the defects in the king's castles of Brug', Salop', and
Elsemer, the cost to be credited by true testimony of lawful men.
June 17. To the sheriff of Kent. Contrabreve to repair and mend the
Merton. tower of Dover castle, that of Rochester castle, and other defects
in both castles by counsel of Master Alexander the king's carpenter, who has seen them, being sent therefor, and to carry to
Westminster for the works there the 100 oaks sold to the king by
Hamo de Crevequer in his wood of Bokenefolde, with the shingles
which the king has had made in his wood of Meredene, the cost
to be credited by view and testimony of lawful men.
June 18. To the same. Contrabreve to fell 20 oaks for timber in the
Morton. king's wood of Meredene by counsel of the said Master Alexander,
and carry them to Rochester castle for the works there.
June 17. To the sheriff of Essex. Contrabreve to receive and carry to
Merton. Dover for the works there 50 oaks which Richard Mutfichet (sic),
