40 HENRY III. 273 1256. Membrane 13-cont. Feb. 21. To the bailiffs of Gloucester. Contrabreve to pay 101. to the Woodstock. keepers of the works at Gloucester castle to finish a turret begun close to the chamber of Edward the king's son. Feb. 23. To the sheriff of Hants. Mandate to pay without delay, out Brill. of the issues of the last eyre in the county, for 26 tuns of wine which Faukes the buyer of the king's wines will take at Suhampton, the cost to be allowed when known to the king. Mandate to Walter le Flemeng and the bailiffs of Suhampton to graciously permit Faukes to take the wine. Cancelled quia in rotulo clausarum. Allocate to Robert le Savage, sheriff of Bukingham and Bedeford, in the farm of those counties, 801. delivered in the wardrobe at Wodestok to Artald de Sancto Romano, keeper, on the Sunday after St. Valentine in the 40th year for the king's expenses. Allocate to Nicholas de Henred (Hanthered above, Hanrade in margin), sheriff of Oxford, in the issues of the county, 60 marks delivered in the wardrobe at Brehulle to the said Artald on the morrow of St. Peter's Chair for the king's expenses. Feb. 24. Liberate to William Le Wyne and his partners 1481. due to them, Essenden. aS the king has learnt by letters of the [treasurer, chamberlains] and barons transmitted to him, for 80 fothers of lead taken from them for the king by Gilbert de Cheyli, formerly sheriff of Lincoln, as the sheriff has not paid them, nor has the money been allowed on his account, as the king has learnt by the said letters. Feb. 21. To the sheriff of Buckingham. Contrabreve to repair and clean Woodstock. the king's buildings at Brehull against his arrival, as he is coming thither within a week. Feb. 23. To the same. Contrabreve to carry after the king to St. Albans Brill. by Saturday, the morrow of St. Matthias, at latest, 12 bucks to be taken in the forest of Bernwod and delivered to him by William Luvel and his fellows, the king's huntsmen, whom the king is leaving behind at Brehull. Feb. 25. To the sheriff of Lincoln. Contrabreve to carry to the king St. Albans. towards the parts of Norfolk and Suffolk with all speed two cartloads of the share of a whale which Robert de Weleweby, escheator of Lyndes', will deliver by view of Joceus de London, and one cartload to the queen at Merleberg, and the rest of the share to London as Joceus will enjoin. To Robert de Manneby and James Fresel, keepers of the bishopric of Salisbury. Contrabreve to pay 801. without delay to 18-(22)
