12 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1251. Membrane 17-cont. To the sheriff of Notingham. Contrabreve to make a wardrobe for the queen at Clipston, a privy chamber in the queen's great chamber, and another at the end of the hall, to buy a chalice, vestments, books, and other necessary ornaments for the new chapel, to make a high bench and other benches in the new hall, to remove the small fireplace in the great hall, and to make a fireplace with (per) one hood (mantellum) in the king's wardrobe and another in the queen's wardrobe with one and the same flue; the cost to be credited by the view and testimony of lawful men. Dec. 18. Liberate to the abbot of Pontigny, or to his known messenger Hodsock. bearing the king's letters patent granted to the abbot of Re (Calendar of Patent Rolls, 1232-1247, p. 485), 301. at the Easter Exchequer in the 36th year, and 301. at the Michaelmas Exchequer following, out of the issues of cos. York and Lancaster, in lieu of the above grant, which the abbot of Re transferred to the abbot of Pontigny by his letters patent at the tomb of St. Edmund; the said letters patent of the king and those of the abbot of Re to be received from the abbot of Pontigny on payment of the money. By K. To the sheriff of Notingham. Contrabreve to pay half a mark to the friars minors of Notingham for carriage to Notingham of 20 cartloads of fallen tree-trunks and dead wood which the king gave them for fuel. By K. To the sheriff of Cumberland. Contrabreve to buy 30 quarters of wheat, 20 quarters of barley, and 30 quarters of oats in his bailiwick and deliver them to the friars preachers of Carlisle of the king's gift for their maintenance. Allocate to William de Salekoc, sheriff of Cumberland, in the York. issues of the amercements of the forest eyre of G. de Langele and his fellows, justices last itinerant in the county, 601. delivered ~in the wardrobe at York to P. Chacepork, keeper, at the feast of St. Thomas the martyr. By K. and T. de Wintonia. Allocate to Thomas de Stanford, escheator, in the issues of his bailiwick, 50 marks delivered to Erna[ld] Cotin at Christmas in the 36th year on his fee of 201. for Hilary term in the 36th and 37th years, payment whereof in hand was granted. Allocate to Master Godfrey de Ludham, precentor of York, 10 marks which he should have paid at the Michaelmas Exchequer of the 40 marks wherein he was amerced for a forest trespass before the justices of the forest last itinerant in co. Nottingham, which 10 marks he paid by the king's order to Ernald Cotin at
