39 HENRY III. 219 1255. Membrane 6 —cont. Liberate to Simon Passelewe, king's clerk, 40 marks granted to him yearly as above (1st entry), that is, 20 marks at the Michaelmas Exchequer and 20 marks at that of Easter. This writ of liberate is patent. Liberate to Master Peter de Tayo 10 marks due to him on a promise made in Gascony. May 18. Liberate to John de Wyvile 20 marks for Easter term in the Clarendon. 39th year (as on p. 150). Allocate to William de Mucheldovr', of the king's grant and favour, in his farm for the profit of co. Surrey throughout his term of office, whatever has been paid to the king by the bailiffs of Suwerk, to whom the abbot of Persor' when escheator demised the town at farm, in excess of what used to be allowed to the sheriffs in the body of the county; and likewise whatever the king has been answered for the farm of the town of Guldeford in excess of the like allowance; seeing that the sheriffs used to have these towns in their farm. Contrabreve to carry 8 tuns of wine to M[erton], 12 to Kenyton, 40 to Windesores, and 60 to Westminster, to place in the king's cellars there, out of 120 to be taken for the king and delivered to them by John de Gysorc' his chamberlain of London. Liberate to Alan le Usser 251. for Michaelmas term in the 38th year of his yearly fee of 501., unless he has already had it by another writ of liberate under the king's seal of Gascony. May 19. Liberate to the said Alan 211. 10s. arrears of his wages while Clarendon. in the king's service with three other knights in Gascony down to the Thursday after St. Peter's Chains, as reckoned by Richard le Rus (Ruffum), king's clerk, 30 marks of the king's gift in addition thereto, 15 marks for a horse lost on the king's service there, and 301. promised to him to go with the king's son Edward into Spain, receiving from him the king's letters patent for these sums; also 251. for Easter term in the 39th year of his yearly fee of 501. Liberate to Gerard Peletan 151. 4s. for 8 tuns of wine taken from him for the king, to Raymond Bonet 631. for 27 tuns of purchased wine and 20s. for 1 tun of prisage-wine, to Lambert de Salynak 961. 12s. for 46 tuns purchased and 40s. for 2 tuns of prisage-wine, to Ellis Barbe 40s. for 2 tuns of prisage-wine, to Bydau de Tholosa 40s. for 2 tuns of prisage-wine, and to Peter Lamberti and his partner 40s. for 2 tuns of prisage-wine and 151. 15s. for 7 tuns purchased; all taken or purchased by John de Gysorc' the king's chamberlain of London.
