214 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1255. Membrane 7-cont. To the bailiffs of Norhampton. Contrabreve to carry to the Tower of London without delay, for delivery to the keeper of the wardrobe there, the cloths to be delivered to them by John de Strafford, king's clerk. *April 7. Liberate to Reynold de Salines 201. due on his fee of 201., that Reading. is, 101. for Michaelmas term in the 38th year and 101. for Easter term following; 121. 2s. arrears of his wages while with the king on his service in Gascony, as reckoned by Richard le Rus (Ruffum), king's clerk; 101. for a horse lost on the king's service there as testified by Robert Walerand; and 10 marks for the like as testified by Richard de Grey; first receiving from him the king's letters patent therefor. Liberate to the priors (sic) and brethren of the Carthusians 50 marks etc. Cancelled quia aliter inferius (5th entry below). Liberate to Raymond de Sancto Martino 20 marks 7s. ld., being 10 marks 3s. 6~d. for Easter term in the 37th year, and the like for Michaelmas term following, of the sum which he receives yearly. Liberate to Iterius de Anguisse (Angusse in margin) 141. arrears of his wages while with the king on his service in Gascony down to the Thursday after St. Peter's Chains, as reckoned by Richard le Rus (Ruffum), king's clerk, receiving from him the letters patent which he has therefor; and 30 marks for Easter term in the 39th year of the 30 marks granted to him yearly as a fee to maintain himself in the king's service. To the bailiffs of Winchester. Contrabreve to let the king's almoner Simon the chaplain have 100 pairs of shoes (as on p. 155) at Clarendon on the Wednesday before Whitsuntide for distribution to the poor against that feast. To the bailiffs of Windesores. Contrabreve to let the queen's almoner Hugh the chaplain have 71 pairs of shoes (as on p. 155), for distribution as above, and 5s. lld. to sew 71 poor men's tunics, all at the above date at Windesores. Liberate to the prior and brethren of the Carthusians 50 marks for the 37th year and 50 marks for the 38th year of the 50 marks which they receive yearly of the king's fixed alms. Note that nothing now remains due to them but 25 marks for Easter term in the 39th year. * Rectius May?
