212 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1255. Membrane 8-cont. Sancto Amando, and William his brother 101. for spices bought of them, and again 116s. for the like; to Peter de Badestan of Pampilion 30 marks for a horse bought of him; to Jocelin Vend 67s. 5d. for shoes bought of him for the king's alms; to William de Hauns 768. 9jd. for timber bought of him; to Robert Berau and Peter de Tillol 101. for harness for their knighting, and 8 marks for loss of two horses; to Geoffrey Bern' of La Rochelle 77s. for fish bought of him; to Robin (Robino) Berau 121. 148. 8d. for cords and sheets (telis) for the king's pavilions, 5 marks which he paid on the king's account to William de Berkele, 60s. for divers wares, and 248. for sendal bought of him; and to Peter Ranulphi, citizen of Bordeaux, 100 marks for Philip, elect of Seville, of the king's gift; the letters patent severally containing these sums to be received from each of the debtors. Liberate to Arnold de Monte Pesaz 1111. 15s. 8d. of the arrears of 2111. 15s. 8d. due to him and his nephews for divers debts, receiving from him the letters patent which he had for the whole sum. He received 1001. from Hugh Bygot, so that nothing remains due to him hereof. Liberate to William de Talyve 700 marks arrears of divers debts, receiving from him the king's letters patent therefor. Allocate to Hugh le Bygot, in his fine of 500 marks for the forestership of Farendale, 1001. paid at Westminster to Ernald de Monte Pesaz. Liberate to Lugana late the wife of Peter Andr' 101. for hay taken from her for the king by John de Suwerk, receiving from her the king's letters patent therefor. Liberate to John de Castellone 151. due to him for harness for his new knighthood (miliciam), and 60 marks for Easter term in the 39th year of his yearly fee, receiving from him the king's letters patent. Liberate to Nicholas de Bolevyle, as soon as the merchants for whom writs have been received at the Exchequer have been satisfied for the king's debts, 331. 6s. 8d. said to be arrears of his fee of 201., first searching the rolls of the Exchequer to see whether the arrears are so great; and 10 marks arrears of the 30 marks given to him to buy himself a horse. Allocate to Ralph de Ardern, sheriff of Essex and Hertford, in the issues of those counties, 228. 10d. spent in purchase of 61 geese and 104 fowls against the feast of St. Edward last.
