Contrabreve to carry the king's timber at Shaftebur' to Corf and let Master Gerard the king's engineer have what he needs to repair the bridge of the castle therewith, the cost to be credited by view. Afterwards this writ was given up. Cancelled. To the sheriffs of London. Contrabreve to go in person to the Tower and view the defects thereof, and do the necessary repairs to all the buildings and turrets, the cost to be credited by view. To the sheriff of Wilts. Contrabreve to pay 5 marks to Peter de Neyrford and 4 marks to Nicholas de Romes' for their expenses, as the king is sending them to despatch certain business in his forests. To the sheriff of Buckingham. Contrabreve to pay 5 marks to Simon Passelewe and 5 marks to Alexander de Hamden on the like account. To the sheriff of Stafford. Contrabreve to pay 5 marks to Henry de Helweton and 4 marks to John de Swyneford on the like account. MEMBRANE 10. Allocate to William de Assewy and Robert de Lynton, formerly sheriffs of London, in the farm of that town, 321. 188. 4d. spent on 311 oxen (xxxj bove et dim'), 10 boars (braonibus), 100 pigs, 456 fowls, 29 hares, 66 rabbits, 9 pheasants, 56 partridges, 68 woodcocks (wydecok), 39 plovers (pluver'), 6 lapwings (vanell'), a heron, and 300 eggs, bought for the king and delivered to W. de Whathamsted and J. de Suwerc his buyers against Christmas, and in carriage thereof from London to the king at Canterbury. March 2. Liberate to Richard de Funtenay, king's knight, yearly during Westminster. his life 50s. at the Easter Exchequer and 50s. at that of Michaelmas, which the king has granted to him for his maintenance because on account of his service to the king he has been disinherited of the lands and tenements in Normandy which should have descended to him by hereditary right. Liberate to Maud Pesche (?), formerly washerwoman of the king's pantry, lid. daily for life, which the king has granted to her for her maintenance.
