Contrabreve to repair the causeway of the king's stew and the king's bays and mills where necessary, the cost to be allowed by view and testimony of lawful men. By K. To the same. Contrabreve to wainscot the king's chapel of Feckeham, to double its present length, to mend the windows, to plaster the king's and queen's chambers, to mend the great staircase between the hall and the king's chamber, to glaze the small windows of the hall, to make a new kitchen, good and large, and a wardrobe, good and large, with a privy chamber thereto, and a privy chamber in the chamber of the king's chamber (sic) on the north side towards the garden, and to thatch the king's buildings where necessary; the cost to be allowed by the view and testimony of lawful men. Liberate to the abbess and nuns of Fontevraud, or to their known messenger bearing these letters, 2951. of new money, being the arrears during the past four years of the 801. 50s. (sic) which they receive yearly at the Exchequer of the fixed alms of the king and his predecessors, kings of England, the king not wishing that their messenger should return to him in England empty-handed. By J. Maunsell. The like on behalf of Alice de Blesis, late abbess of Fontevraud, for 751. due during the past three years on her annuity (see 14th entry above). By J. Mansell. Both the abbess and Alice are thus fully paid down to Michaelmas 36 Edward III, so that nothing is left owing to them till that term. To the sheriff of Stafford. Contrabreve to provide 10 marks to be spent on making the bridge of Wicchenore by his view and by the hands of good and lawful men. By R. son of Nicholas.
