Contrabreve to buy 5 fothers of lead and 200 pounds of tin in the city and send them by water to Rading for delivery to the abbot of Rading to keep till the keepers of the king's works at Freymauntel shall send for them to carry out those works. By the queen. Request to the abbot to keep the lead and tin safely in his house till sent for. To the sheriff of Hants. Contrabreve to make the following payments for lands used to enlarge the king's park of Freymauntel:-to Thomas Joce 18s. 6d. for 2 a. less 21 perches; to Henry de Wodecote 2s. for I a.; to Alan Hagheman 12d. for l a.; to Gilbert the smith 4s. for I a.; to Henry de Wodecote 5s. 2d. for i a. and 2 perches, to Reynold de la Cnolle 5s. 8d. for } a. and 7 perches, and to William de Wintereshull 7s. 6d. for i a., all sown with maslin; and to the abbess of Godestouue 22s. for 2 a., to Alan Hagheman 7s. for i a., and to Simon Danser 19s. 2d. for 1 a., all sown with oats. Allocate to Reynold de Acle, constable of Merleberge, in the issues of his bailiwick, 10s. spent in hanging two bells in the steeple of the king's chapel of Merleberge, and 3s. spent in making a door to the king's cellar there. By the queen. To the said constable. Contrabreve to let the chaplain ministering in the chapel of the king's castle of Merleberge have 10 pounds of wax to celebrate divine service. By the queen. March 27. To the bailiffs of Southampton. Contrabreve to carry 5 tuns of Sandleford. wine to Winchester, 5 to Suwyk, and 40 to Portesmuth, to place in the king's cellars there, out of 50 to be taken for the queen at Suhampton and delivered to them by Roger le Flemeng, keeper of the king's prisage there, and Bartholomew the queen's butler. Mandate to Roger to take the wine, to admit Bartholomew to take it together with him, and to deliver it to the bailiffs. March 30. To the sheriffs of London. Contrabreve to buy 78 pairs of Windsor. shoes (as on p. 155) and deliver them to the queen's almoner by the Tuesday before Easter to distribute them to the poor against that feast. April 1. To Godfrey de Lyston. Contrabreve to pay weekly to Henry, [Windsor.] fitter of the king's crossbows, his wages of 5d. daily from Christmas in the 38th year till Easter following. To the sheriff of Wilts. Contrabreve to receive John le Poer, knight, and keep him safely in the king's prison of Salisbury till further orders, finding him lId. daily for his livery.
