140 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1253. Membrane 2-cont. Liberate to the same Christina 3d. daily of the king's gift to her for life for the maintenance of herself and her children. These letters are patent. Licence to Richard, abbot of Westminster, to make a will (unfinished; Calendar of Patent Rolls, 1247-1258, p. 200). To the sheriffs of London. Contrabreve to pay 251. to William de Monte Revelli at Michaelmas next as arrears of his yearly fee of 251., for which he had a writ of liberate before. Cancelled quia aliter inferius. To the sheriff of Northampton. Contrabreve to cause six heron-falcons of the king's and four of Edward the king's son, which are in the keeping of Ralph de Erlham, to be mewed at Geytinton, and to find necessaries for three of the king's greyhounds and two of the said Edward at Ed. each daily, and 12d. livery for the groom keeping the whole. Allocate to Richard de Clare, earl of Gloucester and Hertford, in the first debts which he has to pay at the Exchequer, 401. 19s. 5jd. which he should have received in the 37th year for the barton of Bristol. Allocate to the sheriff of Oxford and Berks 501. of the last eyre in those counties, which he paid in the wardrobe to P. Chaceporc, keeper. June 22. Liberate to Agnes, late the wife of Roger de Rading, king's Winchester. serjeant-at-arms, 5 marks of the king's gift for her maintenance. The like for Joan late the wife of Peter de Bures. Liberate to Master Henry of Avranches (Albricensi) 10 marks of the king's gift. To the bailiffs of Suhampton. Contrabreve to hire good mariners with all speed to sail the cog in which W. bishop of Bath and Wells is about to cross the sea to Spain on the king's errand, and to have it equipped and a chamber and granary and other necessaries made therein. To the sheriff of Hants. Contrabreve to make purveyance for the king of 500 quarters of wheat, 500 quarters of oats, 2 shiploads of hay, 500 carcases of bacon, 20 weys of hard cheese, 40 quarters of salt, and litter up to 100s. worth, against the king's voyage to Gascony.
