tuns purchased and 2 tuns of prisage, to Jordan Cunte 91. and
half a mark for 6 tuns purchased and 1 tun of prisage, to Goscont
de Chaumunt 20s. for 1 tun of prisage, and to Hamo le Engleis
60s. for 2 tuns of French wine purchased and 1 tun of prisage, all
taken for the king as above.
*To the bailiffs of Portesmuth. Contrabreve to hire the ship
which the king's knight Roger de Lokinton will choose (providert)
for transport of certain of the king's knights and serjeants sent
to Gascony, so that their voyage may not be delayed through
the bailiffs, who are not to fail hereof as they love themselves,
the cost to be credited by view of Roger.
The like to the bailiffs of Suhampton.
Both sets of bailiffs are written to in one form, that the knights'
voyage may not be hindered; and if they find transport at once
at Portsmouth, the bailiffs of Suhampton will have no allowance,
and conversely.
tNote that the bailiffs of Portesmuth found a ship and had
their allowance; the bailiffs of Suhampton did not, and no
allowance is to be made to them.
To the sheriff of Northampton. Contrabreve to cause a gerfalcon given to the king by Edward his son, which is in the keeping
of Henry de Hauvill, to be mewed with the king's five gerfalcons
at Bricstok.
March 26. To the sheriff of Somerset and Dorset. Contrabreve to pay
Westminster. 401. without delay for the king's works at Gillingham to the
keepers thereof out of the farm of the counties and of the manor
of Bere. Cancelled.
tNote that the sheriff will have no allowance by this writ, as
nothing was paid for the said works from the sources named.
March 28. To the sheriffs of London. Contrabreve to pay 100s. of the
Westminster. king's gift without delay to his yeoman William de Monte
Revelli.
To the bailiff of Havering. Contrabreve to make a new almonry
in the court of Havering where the old one was, and to roof the
king's stable there, buying for the purpose 20,000 shingles and
3,000 laths; the cost to be credited by view.
March 28. Allocate to the sheriff of Essex and Herts, in the farm of his
Waltham. counties, 151. delivered in the wardrobe at Waltham to P. Chace* Marginal heading. De transfretacione quorundam de familia regis.
