1253. Membrane 8-cont.
To the sheriff of Salop. Contrabreve to buy 20 fothers of lead in
his bailiwick and carry them to Bristol for the king's works there
to deliver to the keepers thereof.
To the sheriff of Buckingham. Contrabreve to repair where
necessary the swing-bridge (pontem turnicium) in front of the
king's chamber in his manor of Bruhill, which has been burnt,
the cost to be credited by view.
March 14. Allocate to Alan la Zuche, justice of Chester, in the issues of his
Westminster. bailiwick, his reasonable expenses incurred in maintaining three
hostages and their master, detained in the king's castle of Chester,
such as have been usually allowed to other justices of Chester.

March 16. Liberate to Peter de Cereres 101. for 6 tuns of wine bought of
Westminster. him by the hands of Ernald Geroudun and Thomas Esperun,
the king's chamberlains of London. By the steward.
To Richard de Grey, keeper of the king's islands of Gernes' and
Gerner' (sic). Contrabreve to pay 100 marks without delay for
the king's works at Porecestr' to Henry de Ferleg', sheriff of Hants,
and other keepers thereof.
Allocate to the sheriffs of London, in the farm of the city, 111.
paid to Henry de Kingestun of London for 6 lasts of herrings
bought of him by the hands of Master Palin de Bampton and
William de Whethampstede the king's buyers, in the 37th year.

March 17. Allocate to Richard de Grey (as above), in the farm of the islands,
Westminster. 85 marks delivered in the wardrobe to P. Chaceporc, keeper, on
the Sunday after St. Gregory in the 37th year, of the 100 marks
which he should have delivered for the king's works at Porecestr'
to the keepers thereof, and for which he received a writ of
computabitur.
To the sheriffs of London. Contrabreve to carry 80 tuns of
wine to Westminster and 40 to Windesores out of 120 to be
delivered by John de Gisorc', the king's chamberlain of London.
March 18. Liberate to Gerewind de Sosat' [at the Easter Exchequer] *
