- Notes
- Cap slightly virgate, also slightly squamulose, usually only softly woolly-fibrous. Margin inrolled and curiously impressed with lines. Old specimens showed this. Gills whitish at first, turning very slowly to a reddish-creamy tint; in very old specimens to a very dark reddish-brown--more or less in spots. Attachment sinuate with a slight tooth. Edges eroded. Stem pointed below--in all specimens seen. Exterior of stems fibrous, loose fibrils present below, not pruninose above, but very finely white-squamulose under a hand-lens. Interior of stem fleshy-fibrous, occasionally the fibers are sufficiently parted to be called "indistinctly hollow." Odor farinaceous. Taste mild and pleasant.
- Originally I took this plant to be T. ustale, but it is T. albo-brunneum, except that the umbo was not papillose.
