ï~~ 4th, 1918. Dr. L. M. Powers, Health Commissi oner, Los Angeles, California. Dear Sir: I feel that a hospital for canvalescents, for the use of patients discharg d fran the Influenza Hospitals at 936 Yale Street and in San Pedro, will offer great assistance in restoring these people to a normal state of health. They are often discharged frcm the hospitals at the earliest possible moment and they may at that time be suffering from bronchitis, which their debilitated corAition prevents them from throwing off readily. A cons rable risk arises from sending them immediately to their homes, vhe re they perhaps have no care, and, from added necessity, entering upon their occupations to obtain subsistence. I an confident that an average of ten days' stay in such a home will be of benefit to all vwho consent to receive it. Yours very truly,. I
