- In southern Great Lakes-St. Lawrence drainage; Mississippi basin to the Gulf.
Ecology
- Ecology
- Schools in quiet water. This egg-laying species is replaced in Georgia and Florida by a sister form that bears live young. Feed on small crustaceans and insects. Length to 13 cm.
