Description

General Description: Elongate bodies; duck-bill shaped mouths; cycloid scales deeply scalloped on their anterior margins; scales on the head; large, sharp, blade-like teeth on the dentaries, premaxillae, vomer, palatines, and tongue, but maxilla toothless.
Specific Description: Color pattern of chain-like reticulations; more than 112 lateral line scales

Distribution

Distribution: East coastal drainages; Lake Ontario tributaries; introduced to one tributary of Lake Erie.

Ecology

Ecology: In quiet, weedy waters. Feed on fishes. Length to 60 cm.
