The Bernard is a Sand that lyeth a little to the northwards of Eastness; it lyeth in the Sea North-East one mile and a half; the South end lyeth East from Covehithe-Church, if you are bound to the north∣ward; to go clear of the North-east end of it, keep Southwold open of the South end of the Cliff, until you bring Leystaff Windmil open to the northwards of the Town of Leystaff.
