The first Exhortation of H. N. to his Children and to the Famelie of Loue.

The first Chap.

In thissame Chapiter ther is witnessed and figured-fourth in Letters / the tenne principall Commaundementes of the most high God / which the liuinge God himself {reversed ;}out of his holy Heauen; hath spokē / and geeuen them {reversed ;}through Moyses / his Seruaunt; vnto his People Israell, to an euerlasting Rightcousnes / and commaunded them to be obedient therunto / for euermore. Before the which, ther are certen Instructions setfourth / to an expressinge / where∣to the Lawe and Commaundementes of God / are geeuen by God.

• 2. Which hee cōmaunded ourc Fathers / to teach vnto their Children /
• 3. Tod thende that the Posteritie mought learne thesame: and that the Children which were year to be borne / should in life-maner {reversed ;}when they were growen-vpp; publish the∣same vnto their Children:
• 4. And so set their Hope inc God / and not

• the Worfes of God: but feepe his Com∣maundement.
• 5. [ B] For-that-cause {reversed ;}my beloued Children / and thou Famelie of Loue; apply you {reversed ;}fromf your youth vpp; to learne and to obserue the Commaundementes of the Lorde. Heere-vnto indeuour you diligētly / g both Night and Day: and print the same {reversed ;}as a Seale; in your Heartesh. For they are vnto you a Life.
• 6.i Keepe them well in your Mindes and Though∣tes / all your life-longe / so shall they then bringe great Wisedom vnto you / and make-manifest many Go creates of God and holye Vnderstandinges. as also preserue you from thek Destruction of the Vngodlye / and from all Errours of the Ignorant.

THerfore {reversed ;}my beloued Children; yee shall al∣wayes / haue an vpright regarde vnto the Lawe or Commaundementes of the Lorde: and con∣sider to what good Ende / that the Lawe of the Lorde and the Priestes-office of the same / becometh fulfilled: and to what-maner ofl good Conseruation {reversed ;}in all E∣quitie; that the Lawe of the Lorde / was geeuen to the Children of Men.

• Earth became bound {reversed ;}euery-where; so mightely / with the Bandes of Death / Hell / and Condemnation / that none {reversed ;}of them all; could oncet minde / vnderstād / finde / nor comprehend / Gods Trueth nor his holy Vnder∣standing / nether-yet likewise obtayne any Saluation or Blessinge) / So hath the most-high Godv taken∣pitie of the manlye Generation / and been mindfull of thesame with his Grace. and vouchsafed to shewe∣fourth his Loue / Mercye / Powre / and Almightynes {reversed ;}x to the Saluation and Blessing of all Generati∣ons; on the Earth. namely [in expreilinge] how / and wheare-through / all the Children of Men mought come-againe to the true Light of Life ؛y their Sal∣uation{punctel} / to the vpright Knowledg of the Wisedom of God ؛their holye Vnderstanding{punctel} / and to the euer∣lastingz Rest and Peace ؛their Blessinge{punctel}.
• 9. Now / for to accomplish all thissame / so hath God chosen there-to / cauena Abraham. and couenaunted or made-promise with hym / that all Generations of the Earth / should {reversed ;}through Hym andb his Seede; becom blessed.

[ D] HOwbeit / after that these Promises were made vnto Abraham and hys Seede / so became the Seede of Abraham {reversed ;}the which was also calledc Israell; dwelling in the Landed of Egipt: where-as ite Increased to many Multitudes of People. Which People of Israell / became made Bond-seruauntes by Pharao ؛the Kinge of Egipt{punctel} / f and were very∣fore afflicted.
• 11 But / the God of Israellg forgatt not his People / nor the Promises which hee {reversed ;}to a Blessing of all Ge∣nerations of the Earth, had promised vnto Abraham. but was mindfull of hish Couenaunt / that hee had

• made with Abraham / Isaac / and Iacob: and became ai Iudge ouer his Flock. For hee lead his People {reversed ;}k with his mightie Hand; out of the Lande of E∣gipt / and out of the Bondaige-howse of their Sla∣uerye.

[ E] ANd God hath let them hearel hys Woorde of Life. also made-manifest / witnessed / and declared / which is hys eternall, true, and liuinge Righteousnes / that Hee wolde haue to be erected {reversed ;}through his People Israell; vpon the Earth: and wherin all the Children of Men / Generations / and Heathen / should lyue / that it mought {reversed ;}perpetuallie; go-well with them.

For / through Israell ؛m the Seede of Abraham{punctel} the Lordes Mercifulnes stoode ouer the Heathen / for to make the Heathen also {reversed ;}which turned them to the Howse of Israell / for to lyue in the Lawes and Statutes of Israell; out of his Grace / n Coheyres with Israell / in theo Testamentes of the holye Fa∣thers / and in the heauenlie Riches of God the Father / according to the Promises.
• 14. THissame true and euer-lasting Righteous∣nes / hath the liuing God declared {reversed ;}out of his holye Heauen; vnto his People Israell / vpon thep Mount Sinai. And God spake to Israell / all these Wordes / and sayde:
• 15. [ F] Iq am the Lorde thy God / which haue brought thee out of the Lande of E∣gipt {reversed ;}eauen out of the Howse-of-bondaige;:

16. Thout shalt haue none other Gods / besides Mee.

The seconde Commaundement.

17. Thouf shalt not make to thy-self any Imaige nor Lifenes, of that which is in Heauen / aboue / or of that which is on the Earth / beneth / or of that which is in the Water / vnder the Earth: Pray not to them / and serue or worship them not. For I ؛the Lorde thy God{punctel} am a telous God / whicht punisheth the Wickednes of the Fathers / vpon the Childrē / vnto the thirde and fourth Generation / of them that hate mee: and shewe Mercye vpon many Thowsandes / that soue mee / and keepe my Commaundementes.

18. Thou shalt not abuse thev Name of the Lorde thy God. For the Lorde will not holde him gileles or seaue him vnpunis hed / that abuseth his Name or taketh it in vayne.

19 Be mindfull of the Sabboth-daye / that thou sanctifie thesame. Six Dayes shalt thou labour / and do all thy Woorke. But the seuenth Daye / is the fabbaoth Daye of the Lorde / thy God: in thesame thou shalt do no Woorke / nor thy Sonne / nor thy Daughter / nor thy Manseruaunt / nor thy Mand∣seruaunt / nor thy Cattell / nor thy Strannger that is within thy Gates. For iny syx Dayes / the Lorde made Heauē and Earth / with the Sea / and all that is ther∣n: and rested the seuenth Daye. Wherfore the Lordez blessed the Sabboth-day / and hallowed it.

An Expressing and Declaration, who are the Lordes People that loue hym / and who {reversed ;}on the other side; contēne hym - and how the Goodwilling to the Righteousnes / be∣com nourtered and sustayned by the Lawe and Commaun¦dementes of God and lead eauenso {reversed ;}vnder the Obedience of the Lowe of the Lorde / and the Beleef of Iesu Christ, in to the true Beeing of Christ and his Loue. [ A]

O Erelie / all Such now as obserue and keepe these Com̄aundementes / Lawes / and Statutes of the supreame God {reversed ;}in the Spirit / and according to all Trueth; / and lyne therin: and turne not aside / nethera to the Right-hand nor to the Leaft. but are grounded or established with vpright Heartes {reversed ;}vnder the Obediēce of the Loue; ther-in: and eauenso {reversed ;}out of their Disposition and Nature; lust-for nor desyre any other thinge / but to beare the Wordes / Commaundementes / and Testi∣monies of the true God / b in their Heartes / and to bec obedient thervnto / Those are {reversed ;}douties; They which loue God / d also are borne of him / and are his Childrē.

2. BVt all such as keepe Noe these Wordes / Commaundementes / and Lawes of the Most-highest / nor liue ther-in: nether-yet will learne {reversed ;}in the Seruice of Loue; to obserue those-same / nor doo therafter / nor lyue therin: nor yet likewise will in∣deuour themselues {reversed ;}through the Doctrine and Be∣leef of Iesu Christ; to their Purginge from the Sin̄e (To thend that they {reversed ;}through thee Bloud of Iesu Christ; mought becom wasshed and purged from their Synnes and vnpure Consciences) / Those are verely They whichf loue not God. but are such as hate Him / contemne his Lawe and Worde / account the Bloud of our Lorde Iesu Christ {reversed ;}that clenseth and faneth our Soules;g for vnpure / and dis dayne His Salna∣tion.

3. For such peruerse Heartes {reversed ;}which areh Allauntes to the Citizenshly of Israell / and also Straungers to the mercifull Loue of Iesu Christ / and walke ea∣uenso without the Loue and her Seruice; do playnly expresse with their wicked and apostaeed Will,i whose

Children they are / and wherto they haue tourned their Heartes / Mindes / and Thoughtes. For such on adoulterousk Generation / are the Childrenl of the Deuell / and the wicked Seed of the peruers or corrunt. World / which will not at all / geeue themselues to the Cleansing of the Heart / and Sanctification in Iesu, Christ: nor-yet submit them / vnder the Obedience of the Lawe of the Lorde. nor vnder the Obedience of the Faith of Iesu Christ. nor vnder the Obedience of the Loue of the holy Spirit.

4. [ B] BEholde / heere-by now it becometh knowne / which are the Childrenm of the Deuell 〈◊〉〈◊〉 of the wicked World; / and which {reversed ;}on the other-side are the Children of God {reversed ;}or the Good-willingons a the Righteousnes;.

5. For all what is of God,n loueth God: ando keepeth his Woord. And all what is departed and estraunged from God / {reversed ;}if-so-be that it haue a lust 〈◊〉〈◊〉 God and his Righteousnes; That cometh again•• {reversed ;}through the Loue / or through the Voyce or Calling of the Spirit of Loue; vnto God: and indeuoured Itself {reversed ;}in the Comunialtie of the Loue; to lyue and walke in allp vpright Righteousnes and Holynes.

THese Children of God / together with all f•••• as {reversed ;}with humble Heartes; haue aq Lust to doo the Will of the Lorde / becom all iustified •••• made-safe {reversed ;}vnder the Obedience of the Loue; •••• God {reversed ;}through his Christ; from all theirr Sinnes. a•••• eauenso / through the Woord / s with the Woord / and in thet Woorde of Life {reversed ;}the which is Iesus Christ himself;v lead and brought-in to the true Beeing Iesu Christ: And hee ؛the same Christ{punctel} insying them with his holye Spirit of Loue / andy geeuer

[ C] HOw-be-it / whilst that this Woorde of Life / nor his Loue / was not {reversed ;}in tymes-••••assed;z renealed among the Generacions of Abra∣ham nor-yet com vnto them {reversed ;}as a true Light; in true Knowledg / Go could not this holye Lawe of Life ؛the Commaundementes of their Lorde and God{punctel} becom rightlie ministred nor lyued {reversed ;}according to the heauenlie Trueth; among the Children of Men.

8. For that cause now / it became All set-fourth before them {reversed ;}to aa Conseruation of them / till vnto the Comminge of Christ / and till vnto the Manifest∣ing of his Resurrection;b in Images / Figures / Shadowes / c parabolous Woordes / and Written-letters: wherwith ther was required of them / the good Will to God / and to his Woorde / d for to be obedient goodwillinglie / vnto the Lorde their God / and to lyue in his Righteousnes / To thend that the Most-best / and thee purest Bewtye of the Cicernes of Christ / should com eauenso vnto them / in the Spirit and accordinge to the Trueth / and so they to becom vnto: porated {reversed ;}f in all Loue; to the louelie Beeinge of God.

[ D] VNder thissame fore-goingeg and figu∣ratiue God-seruice {reversed ;} which was wit∣nessing vpon a More-effectuall and Cleerer; God hathh many-tymes sent his Propheates vnto the Fathers of Israell: wherthrough God {reversed ;}in ma∣ny-maner-of-wise; witnessed vnto them / of thei Cleernes of Christ that was for to com / of the Riches of the most-pure Bewtyfulnes of God / k and of the louelye and vpright Righteousnes / which should becom brought vnto them: and how

that they in the last tymes {reversed ;}vnder the Obedience of •••• Loue; should lyue therin for euer.

BVt whenas now thissame gratious Ti•••• was come / wherof God hadl spoken be•••• fore. and like as heem promised to Abraham and 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Seede / and wherin hee (like-as ther was prophecy therof / by Moyses in then Lawe / and by all the Pro∣pheates of God) wolde accomplish all hys Worke, to the Blessing of all the Generations of the Earth So hath God {reversed ;}to theo Lighting of the Heathē / and to the Renowne of his People Israell; sentfourth from Hymp his Angell Gabriell / into a Citie in Gall•••• {reversed ;}which is called Nazareth; to a Virgin which was betrothed to a Man {reversed ;}q named Ioseph; of ther Howse of Dauid. And the Virgin was called / Marie.

11. [ E] And the Angell Gabriell went ins vnto her and saluted her: saying to her / that shee should com ceaue in her Wombe / and beare a Sonne / and call his Name / Iesus ort Sauiour.

For through Thesame / God woldev saue and blesse the manlye Generation / accordinge to his Promises: to thend that they {reversed ;}with vpright and pure Heartes {reversed ;}should lyue alwayes andy for euer / in his Lawe and vpright Righteousnes. and inherit eauen∣so, the heauenlie Treasures / and Riches of God.

The thirde Chap.

The Salutation of the Aungell Gabrtell / whering hee salted the Virgin Marie / when shee should conce•••• or becom-with-childe {reversed ;}through the Powre of the 〈◊〉〈◊〉 highest. by the holy Goss: And the Blessing of Elyab•••• wherwith shee blessed the Virgin Marie, when for came to her / and sound her to be with-childe by the hove Goste.

2. Feareb thee not Marye: thou hast ••ound Grace with God.c Beholde / thou halt conceaue in thy Wombe / and beare a Sonne: his Name shalt thou call Iesus.

3. Thesamed shalbe great / and be called a Sonne of the Most-highest. And God the Lorde shalc geeue Hym the Seate of his Father Dauid: and hee shalbe a Kinge ••uer the Howse of Iacob / for-euer: and Her shall be nof Ende of his Ringdome.

4. Blessedg art thou amonge Women o Marie / the Mother of my Lorde] and bles∣sed is the Fruite of thy Wombe / Iesus Christ. AMEN.

The IIII. Chap.

The Prasse and Thankesgeeuing of Marie / wherin ••ee lawded the Lorde {reversed ;}through the Ioye which shee re∣••••ued in her Soule {reversed ;}when shee had conceaued by the •••• Goste. [ A]

2. And my Spirit reioyceth in God / my Saluation.

3. For hee hath loofed onb the Lowlyner of his Handmayden: Beholde / from hence-fourth / all Generations shall count me blessed.

4. For Hee that is Mightie, hath wrought great thinges in Mee: and holy in his Name.

5. And hisc Mercye endureth from of•••• Generation to an-other / amonge their that feare him.

6. Hee exerciseth Powred with his Arm•••• and scattereth such as are proude in the imagination of their heart.

7. Hee thrusteth the Mightie from their Seate: and exalteth the Humble.

LOrde / a now leauest thou thy Ser∣uant {reversed ;}accordinge to thy Woord; in Peace.

2. For myne Eyes haue seene thy Sa∣uour.

3. Which thou hast prepared / before all People:

4. Ab Light, to lighten the Heathen: and ••o the Prayse of thy People Israell.

5. Glorie bee to the Father / and to the Sonne / and to the holye Goste.

[ A] and thou Famelie of Loue; that thea last or new∣est Dan doth presentlie appeere / and becom∣eth reuealed / with Vs {reversed ;}in the which / the Ap∣peeringb of the Comming of Christ and of the Re∣surrection of the Dead cometh-to-passe / to a righte∣ousc Iudgment of God vpon Earth;: so can it not now likewise bide-back / but the most-holie christian Beleef must also appeere and declare-fourth herself / and {reversed ;}accordinge to the very-true Trueth; become made-manifest in the self-same Daye / To thend that the same true Beleef / mought now in thed last cyme {reversed ;}eauen in this mostholie Daye of the Loue; becom ex∣pessed or heald fourth {reversed ;}vnder the Obedience of the Loue; before all People / and that the vpright Belee∣••ers in Iesu Christ / as also all such as beleeue vn∣rightlie of Christ / should becom knowne and manifested 〈◊〉〈◊〉 onee from the other. and eauenso iudged according •••• the Trueth / and righteous Iudgment of God.

FOr-as-much then / as that now {reversed ;}eauen in thissame newest Daye;f the Coming of Ie∣•••• Christ {reversed ;}as a Lorde in hys Matestie; from the Right-hande of God his Father / appeereth / and be∣cometh manifested vnto vs {reversed ;}with full Cleernes of the heauenlie Glorye;g / accordinge to the Scripture / Therfore passe wee thorowe the Nations of People / ••••ting or making-triall / whether the true Beleef of Christ, be any-where to be foundh vpon the Earth.

3. But seeing that wee cannot perceaue or finde the

true Beleef in Iesu Christ / among any People vpon the Earth {reversed ;}that walke with-out the Comunialtie of the Loue / and lyue vnto them-selues;: and that thesame is appeered and manifested vnto the Holyōs of God / i in the Comunialtie of the Loue {reversed ;}through the Appeer∣ingk of the Cominge of Iesu Christ; out of the high Heauen / So can-not likewise thesame most-holye Beleef / becom vprightlie witnessed nor confessed / by any Other People / Nations / nor Communialties / but onlye by thel Comunialtie of the Holyous in the Loue / or by Such as lyue and walkem obedientlie / vnder the gratious Woord and his Seruice of Loue.

4. For Those / that stand comprehended in the Light of the Loue / or that aren taught ther-of / Thy walke in the trueo Light [that is in the Cleernes of Christ] / wherthrough all the Holyons of God / haue euerp witnessed / published / and confessed / the true Be∣leef of Iesu Christ.

THe-whilst then that God extendeth his Com∣passion ouer vs / with his Light / and doth now in the last Time {reversed ;}through the Appeering of the Cominge of his Christ; raise-vpp hisq Communi∣altie of Holyons {reversed ;}which hee hath chosen from the••••∣gininge / r to be the Heyres of his Kingdom; in hys Loue / and in the Loue of his Christ: and that her in like-maner / expressely declareth vnto vs {reversed ;}vnder the Obedience of thesame Loue; the vpright Fayth / and the true Iudgment of God or Christ / Therfore can∣not wee hide it or omyte / to witnes and declare {reversed ;}accor∣ding to the Trueth; thesame true Beleef / and thes Misterie of the true Iudgment of Christ both ouer the Liuinge and Dead: and to endeuour vs with all

dilligence / for to setfourth {reversed ;}accordinge to the Trueth; the vpright Beleef of Iesu Christ / before eueryone whom God steereth-vpp in our Waye / To thende that they all which aret good-of-will / mought becom plucked / in the vpright and true Faith of Iesu Christ / with vs {reversed ;}vnder the Obedience of the Loue; in to the Onev concordable Communialtie of Holyons. and eauensoX obtayne their Saluation and Blessing / ac∣cording to the Promises.

THerfore heare {reversed ;}y hee that hath Eares to heare; and consider-well {reversed ;}hee that hath Vnderstan∣dinge to comprehende; our vpright Grounde of the true Faith / in God ؛our Father{punctel} / and in his Sonne Iesus Christ ؛our Lorde and Sauiour{punctel} / and in the holie Gost ؛ourz Inheritaunce in the spirituall and heauenlie Goods{punctel} / and of the vpright christian Bap∣tisme / a in euery of their Names. For all Such as beleeue and becomb baptised vprightlie / according to the Trueth and Testimonie of Iesu Christ / they shall becom saued. But whoso beleeue not / they shall be∣com condemned.

25. WEe beleeue / that thissame Iesus (likeas the Scripture mētioneth therof) isn ascended into Heauen / fittinge at theo Right-hande of God / his almightie Fa∣ther.

A Prayer to God the Father / as Christ hymself hath taught his Disciples to praye: before the which ther is setfourth / an Instruction touchinge the same Prayer.

THanke thea Lorde / which liueth euerlastinglie / and prayse Hym for all the Guiftes of his Goodnes. For with hisb Woorde of Life / feedeth hee daylie our Soules / in the Seruice of his Loue: And geeueth our naturallc Manhode his Foode and Ciothing / as also all what is needfull for vs.

2. Therfore praise our God / and extoll his holie Name: for his Great-mightynes endureth for euer∣more. Amen.

3. Wee thanke and pralse thee / O Lorde God hea∣uenlie

Father / O thou true God; for all thy Good∣nes. For thy Blessinge is alwayes ouer vs / in thy Howse of Loue / and thou guydest vs {reversed ;}Therin; with thyd Right-hand.

4. In the-same Howse / thou reloyeest also our Soules / with thye Woord / and fatiffiest our Bodyes with thy Foode.

5. Wheare is-ther then such af God / as our God of Loue / which is so Almightie: and such a God ser∣uice / as the mostholie God-seruice of his Loue / which is so louelie / and teacheth vs so vprightlie?

6. Laude / g Houour / Prayse / and Thankesgeeuing / be to that God euerlastinglie / which hath {reversed ;}out of his bountifull Goodnes; prepared all this for vs: and geeueth vs ther-to his euerlastingeh Lyfe / Amen.

The XI. Chap.

A good Exhortation / wherwith H. N. infourmeth his Children / and the Fainelie of Loue / and teacheth them to the good and louelye Life of Peace. Which Ex∣hortation is also verye profitable and conuenient for all Howse-fathers / in the Commialtie of the Loue / for to vse and unpsoy the same to the Seruice and good Docu∣ment of their Children or youagons. MY louinge Children / and thou Famlie of Loue:a geeue-eare to mee / your Father / and lyue accordinge to my Doctrine / that it may go-well with you. Forb the Lorde will haue the Father honoured of the Children: And what the Mother biddeth or comaun∣deth the Children to doo / that will hee haue kept.

2. For-that-cause / encline your Earesc to the Woordes of my Mouth / and bowe your Vnder∣standing

to my Information. Geeue alwayes care to your Father.d And looke also that yee contemne not your Mothers Counsell and Information. Take-heede to my Doctrine. And all what I {reversed ;}out of Loue; doo setfourth / teach / and exhort you vnto / that print{reversed ;} to a Seale of Life / or a Witnes of the Trueth; in your Heartes. For ite is your Life.

3. Feare the Lorde / the almightief God / which hath made Heauen and Earth. Pratse his Excel∣lentie:g and geeue all Laude / Praise / and Honour / vnto his holie Name. For Hee is a God of all Life / eauen a God which geeueth you the Spirit orh Breath.

4. Haue therfore now a Lust {reversed ;}with all your Heart; to serue the same God / and to do his Will. And although yee knowe not his Excellentie / ne∣ther-yeat can confesse Hym {reversed ;}as hee is a God; ac∣cordinge to his Cleernes / yeti set your confidence {reversed ;}neuerthelesse; on Hym: and hope alwayes vpon his Goodnes.

5. [ B] O My Children in the Loue / submit your Soules vnder thek Counsell of the Wisdom: and be not / in any-case;l obstinate / as is the wicked Nature of the corrupt World: but receaue my Doctrine in Lowelynes / To thend that the Wis∣dom / with her verteous Nature of the Lone / may be∣comm planted in you with Meekmindednes.

6. And therfore / To thend that yee maye inherit these holie Treasures of the godlie Riches / so geeue∣ouer all your Will and Counsell / in the Will and Counsell of the Priestes ؛your Elders{punctel}. For then Infourme or direct you to the same Life of Righte∣ousnes: and are seruiceable to you {reversed ;}with the godlye

Documentes; therunto.

7. For-that-cause / see that yeen loue the Priestes / your Elders / as your owne Soule: and beo obe∣dient vnto them / in their Teachinge and Orders. Contend norp murmure not against them: nether-yet deale or behaue yourselues towardes them / in any Hipocrisie orq Doublenes of heart: but let all your Counsaties / Enterprises / Purposes / Will / and deedes (whether they be then secreator manifest) ap∣peere {reversed ;}at all tymes; naked and baret before your El∣ders.

8. After this maner {reversed ;}my beloued Children; let all your Conuersation or Walkinge / bes in the Feare of the Lorde: and consent {reversed ;}in no-case; to the Euell / at any tyme.

9. Also / keepe not companye with the Craftie and Wicked / that yee becom not seduced by them / to cōmit anything that is vnlawfull / t or to vse any inordinate∣dealinge with them: nor-yet likewise enterprise you by your-selues / the doing of any vncombly thinge: but indeuour you to order your Life and Walking / v ac∣cording to the Lawe of the Lorde / like-as it becometh the Children which feare God / for to do.

10. Take alwayes good-heede to yourx Thoughtes / that they at no tyme conceaue anyey Newes / or ap∣plye them to the studye of any new Inuention: but holde them in the Bridle / accordinge to the Lawe of the Lorde: and keepe-well your Heartes / from thez intisinge Sinne.

11. [ C] O Yee Children / younge of yeares / and yee Youngmen of little Vnderstanding / geeue-eare to the Wisdoma and Doctrine of your Father: and take his Instruction to heart.

12. Flee from the vaiue or vnprofitable Thinges of theb wicked World: and seyerate you from thence / where men deale with falshod and deceit. But haue re∣garde to the Instructions and Intelligence of the godlie Vertues: and growe-vpp eauen so / till vnto thec Oldnes of the holye Vnderstandinge.

13. COnsider also on the olded Wayes of the holie Fathers / and take you their Doctrine to heart: and dispise not their Institutions. but perse∣uer firmelie therin / So shall yee then bide well defend∣ed / from all the Seducingee of the false Teachers / and from all New-inuentions of Men (which di∣uide and intangle them selues in so manifolde Secies or Schysmes): and lyue {reversed ;}without Feare; in the vp∣right Righteousnes.

14. If yee then applye your Heartes heer-vnto / yee shall bee well preserued from thef Snares of the Wicked / and from the Infelicitie of the Vngodlie.

15. FOr-that-cause / seperate you {reversed ;}with whole Heart; from euery-thinge that hath ang apparaunce of Euell: and thinke alwayes vpon that which is right and resonable.

16. Let your Fourth-going be inh stillnes / with fewe Wordes: and occupy your Mouthi with comd∣lie and fruitfull Talke.

17. Shut without your Heartes / the lightminded Behauiour / k with all his Wantonnes and fonde Toyinge: and loue the Constantie.

18. Let your Fearingl of the Lord / be inm Lowe∣lynes: your Loue toward God / n in Humilitie: and your Vnderstanding / o in all Singlenes of Heart.

19. Let not the Lyesp or Falshod be witnessed or spoken of you: but loue the Trueth and Righteous∣nes

/ with all your Heart.

20. BVt if yee chaunce to offende / in committ∣ing any Misdeede / yet binde not {reversed ;}in any eases your Heart theron:r nether-yet feare you or be ashamed / s to confesse the same before Godt and the Prlestes ؛your Elders{punctel}: but let it all appeere {reversed ;}ap∣parantlie; before Them.

21. Which Discoueringe and Confessinge of your Synnes {reversed ;}with av forrowe-bearing and repen∣tant Heart; / shall be a Testymonye on your syde / that yee loue not the Synne / nor-yet destre to stand∣••••••able to her Will.

22. For whosox confesseth and leaueth his Miss∣••••ede / hee shall obtayne Mercye:y But whoso kec∣••eth-scilence therof / also bindeth his Heart theron / and for-that-cause; couereth or hideth the same / hee is a ••rafty one / and a Deceauer / in his Spirit.

23. IF yee therfore at anytyme fall into the Synne / so sigh vnto God / beseeching hym ••o bez mercifull vnto you: [ E] and make-manifest your∣elues to the Wyse ؛a your Elders{punctel} vnder the Obe∣dience of the Loue: and bewayle your Transgressing / and Ignoraunce / or Fratltie / So will God then be ••ercifull vnto you.

24. And eauen so {reversed ;}through the Grate of God; ••e Elders in the Communialtie of the Loue / shall receaue or help you vp againe {reversed ;}in the Repentaunce or your Synnes;b from your fall of the Sinne / and infourme and teach you / through the Seruice of the ••••••e and gratious Woord / To thend that yee may ••••••ease {reversed ;}with holy Vnderstandinge; in the verteous ••eeinge of the Loue / and so growe-vpp ther-in / to a Strength against the Sinne.

25. Thus doing with singlenes of heart / yee shall 〈◊〉〈◊〉 becom chastised / as Disobedientons but much-more commended / as goodwilling Children / which haue a Lust vnto the good Life.

26. For / in the Confessinge of the Misdeede (〈◊〉〈◊〉 such-a-one as {reversed ;}with a sorowfull and repentan•••• Heart; bewayleth and accuseth hymself therof)c 〈◊〉〈◊〉 becometh Grace founde before God and his Ho••••∣ons.

27. But Such as are euell of will / and houe pleasure in their owne Minde or Goodthinking {reversed ;}which alwayes maketh-vpp itself against the Lord and her vpright Seruice; / and therfored hyde the Wickednes / and turne-away themselues from 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Communlaltie of the Holyons in the Loue / Then 〈◊〉〈◊〉 well worthy of Chastisement. It shall likewise 〈◊〉〈◊〉 fayle to worke them Woe / when they are founde 〈◊〉〈◊〉 their wicked Woorkes and reprooued or chastised 〈◊〉〈◊〉 the same.

28. Howbeit / not that it shall worke them Wo•••• cause they haue dealt euel or vntustly: but / because 〈◊〉〈◊〉 are reproued or corrected for their Wicked-doinge and that their wicked Heartes become made-know•• vnto them. But / whoso humbleth himself 〈◊〉〈◊〉 the Correction and Chastisinge-erudition / 〈◊〉〈◊〉 eauen so sheweth Repentauncef for his Sinne The same shall obtaine Mercie and Forgeeuence Sinnes.

29. [ F] THerfore {reversed ;}my louinge Children; refuse the chastisinge Erudition: but submit wayes your Heartes / g vnder the fatherlie Correct and Discipline / wherwith yee are taught and in••••••∣med / to Ameudment / To thend that yee maye obtake

a pure Heart / in all Loue.

30. And feare not nether-yet be you abashed / to confesse your Sinnes and Transgressions nameite / to the Elders / which are comprehended in the Com∣muntaltie of the Loue / also doo administer the holie Woorde / and infourme and teach you {reversed ;}out of the Seruice of Loue; vnto the good Life.

31. LOue therfore these Elders ؛h your Fore∣goers in the Loue{punctel} with all your Heart. And although they setfourth your Sines and Trans∣••••essinge before your Eyes / or make them knowen ••••to you / yet withdrawe not yourselues {reversed ;}for-al-that; ••••om them: but geeue {reversed ;}at all tymes; good eare to ••••it Doctrine and Information. For theyi warne ••••ou {reversed ;}out of hartle Loue; of the Waye that leadeth ••••your Destruction.

32. And like-as a Mother is carefull ouer her Children / lest any harme should chaunce vnto them / or ••••y Misfortune com vpon them: Eauen so do then ••••tch and take-eare ouer yourk Soules / to your ••reseruation and Saluation.

33. BVt / when-as yee now are holpen-vpp and receaued-to-mercye {reversed ;}to your Amen∣ement; in the Seruice of the Loue / by your Elders brough the Vnderstading of the gratious Woorde; from your Fall of the Sinne:l So feare then from that tyme fourth / to synne anye-more: but {reversed ;}at all tymes; inclyne your Heart and Minde / for to be obe∣dient vnto the godly Trueth / in her Seruice of the Loue: and cause not your Elders to sorowe. For an obedient Chyldem reioyceth his Father: and is a ••••oye / in the beholdinge of his Mother.

34. [ G] BEholde / this is {reversed ;}assuredlie; a great De∣lectation / to the Elders / and a godlye Peace / for the Youngons and Children.

35. Such a Famelye of Peace / God will blesse / and shyne therin alwayes and for-euer / with hisn Light of Loue / as also make hiso Dwelling with the same: For It isp very-acceptable vnto Hym.

36. Yea to such a godfearing Famelye {reversed ;}vnder the Obedience of the Loue; it is geeuen / toq vnderstand Gods secreat Wisedom: and the holye Vnderstand∣inge shall flowe vnto the same.

37. The Fourth-going therof / shall be in all Loue lynes / Felicitie / and Welfare: and God ؛the Most highest{punctel} will alsor dwell / lyue / and walke in the same euerlastinglie / according to his Promises.

38. OMy Children / which I loue in the Loue heer-vnto [namelie / vnto all that wher-to I exhort / teach / and instruct you] applye your Heartes / and all your Mindes and Thoughtes Exercise you daylye int these good Documentes: 〈◊〉〈◊〉 occupye yourselues in the holie Scripture.

39. Glasse your Beeing and Minde / v in 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Glasse of Righteousnes: and beholde therin / 〈◊〉〈◊〉 manye Spottes and Wrinkels ther are year in 〈◊〉〈◊〉.

40. When yee now hauex in seene and perceant your Spottes / and all what is not conformable 〈◊〉〈◊〉 the pure Bryde of Christ: so passe then thorowe 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Communialtie of Holyons in the Loue / and haue your communion [or vniforme-societie] with The same and becom eauen so wasshedy in her pure Water [namely / in the purez Waters of the holy Spirit 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Loue] / To thend that yee may becom purified or p••••∣ged / in all your Spirit and Minde.

41. BVt see that yee loue and imbrace the Wisedome / aboue all Treasures and ••••••••able or costliea Riches of this World. For ther 〈◊〉〈◊〉 ••••-maner of Bewtie to be compared vnto her / nor∣••••tauye Treasure orb costlie Riches to be valewed 〈◊〉〈◊〉 her: Therfore doth Shee {reversed ;}of Worthynes-pare; well it all far-awaye.

42. Seeinge then that the Wisedom ؛the holye Vnderstandinge of the gratious Woorde of the ••orde{punctel} is the bewtifullest / richestc / worthyest / and aboue all thinges; the most-pretious / Therfore ap∣proprlate and bind-fast theron / d your Heart / Soule / 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Minde / so shall yee then assuredlie finde in expe∣rence / that the Band or the Appropriatinge to the Wisedom / shall becom a great and a true Freedom unto you.

43. For I saye vnto you verely / that thee Trueth 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Christ / maketh none other free / but Such as haue ••••powsed or bound-fast their Heartes to the Wisdom the which is the Trueth or Christ hymself]: and that abide eauen so {reversed ;}in the Seruice of the Loue;f in her Doctrine. For her Children or Disciples {reversed ;}which per∣••••ere-constant in the Woord of her Doctrine; re∣••••ue and inherit the holyeg Spirit of the most-high God. Therfore is also theh Spirit of the holy Vnder∣standinge / comprehended in the Wisedom.

The XII. Chap.

The Children deo demannd-question of the Father / touching the vpright Wisedom: wheruppon a right ••ngular Resolution / and simdry groundlie Decla••ati∣ons / are answered. and wherby also many good Docu∣mentes are taught: with certen Admonitions consern∣ing the Destruction.

INstruct vs {reversed ;}wee beseech thee; [ A] 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Father: What / or what-maner-of-thinge this vpright Wisedom is / wherof the speakest?

The Father.

2. THe vprighta Wisedom / is one oulie: also manifolde / subtile / eloquent / noble / b pure or vnspotted / louing all Good or Vertue:c Shee 〈◊〉〈◊〉 meekminded / frindlie / beneficiall / courteous / gre•••• ous / firme / certaine or sure / sweete / constant / free / 〈◊〉〈◊〉 is able to do al-thing: hauing all Vertue / fore-s•••••••• al-thinge / and which receaueth and passeth-thown all Spirites of Vnderstandinge. For the Wisedom is subtiler / then all subtile thinges: and shee excelleth all / because of her Purenes.

3. Shee is a subtiled Breath or Winde of 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Powre of God / and a pure outflowinge Cleerues•• the Almightie. Therfore also ther cometh not in 〈◊〉〈◊〉e anything that is defiled.

4. This Wisedom is a Brightnes of the eter•••••• and true Light / and anf vnspotted Glasse of 〈◊〉〈◊〉 godlie Powre / the Maiestie of God / and an Ima•••••• of his Goodnes.

5. Although now Shee be but one-onlie / yet doth 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Al-thinge:g and bydinge in Herself / shee renew•••• all thinge: also shee conuayeth herself about {reversed ;}throw the Nations; in the holie Soules / and maketh God / Frindes / and Propheates. For God loue none / but such as inhabit with the Wisedom.

6.h Shee passeth also the Sunne / in glorious

〈◊〉〈◊〉: shee far surmounteth / all the Comlye-order the Starres: and the Dan is not to be compared 〈◊〉〈◊〉 her.

7. The Day geeueth-place to the Night:i but the ••••••quitie can neuermore subdue the Wisedom: For Shee reacheth valiauelyk from one Ende to another / adgouerneth Althinges well.

8. WHerfore {reversed ;}my Children; [ B] seeinge that the Wisedom {reversed ;}of Worthynes parte;l resseth al-thinge / so loue her alsom aboue al-thinge: ••••d walke {reversed ;}in the same; vprightlie / in the Feare of the lorde / all the Dayes of your Life: and dispose all 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Affayres with Lenitie or Sweetues. For that 〈◊〉〈◊〉 worke you Softnes and Welfare / prolonge 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Life / reioyce your Minden / and refreash your ••oues.

9. So doinge / your Soules shall com to theo lest / and your Spirit becom comforted in God. ••he Destruction shall not raigne ouer you: but the ••eace of God the Father shall inhabit with you.

10. Oh / take that therforep to Heart / wher-to 〈◊〉〈◊〉 instruct and teach you / To thend that yee may be∣•••••• Vnderstandinge.

11. Exercise your-sclues in theq Lawe of the lorde: loue well his Preceptes and Statutes: and eauen so with diligence / haue a sharpe regarde vnto all 〈◊〉〈◊〉 / which is iust and right / so shall yee not then direct 〈◊〉〈◊〉 course / in any ignorant zeale.r but vnderstand•• 〈◊〉〈◊〉 or comprehend / what maner of Righteousnes God requireth.

12. Endeuour you likewise / to shew-fourth an vp∣right and seemelyes Conuersation amonge all Peo∣ple.

13. And where-euer yee com or dwell / theare 〈◊〉〈◊〉 mitt you obedientlie vnder the Rulours or Maies∣tratest of the same Land: and shewe all Reuereuce vnto them.

14. Be discreet and orderlie / in all your Counersa∣tion or Walking: and geeue also Commend•••••••• and Pranse to the Gouernours of this World:v For they are ordayned by God / to all good Gouernment on the Earth.

15. Therfore speake not estell by any Rulours: 〈◊〉〈◊〉 they are Godsx Ministers / to the Protection 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Welfare of the Communaltie.

16. Vnder these-same Rulours {reversed ;}seeing that 〈◊〉〈◊〉 beare and execute such an Office; liuey subiect•••••• and peaceablie: and turne-away your Heart / from all vayne or vnprofitable Dealinges and Foolishnes.

17. For the foolishz Vnseemsynes or Disorder••∣nes / is an abhominatiō before the highest God / and 〈◊〉〈◊〉 seducing of the Thoughtes of Men:a withdrawing their Heartes from all good Ordinaunces.

18. FOr-that-cause {reversed ;}my Children; becomb 〈◊〉〈◊〉 like vnto the World / in her Foolishnes and Disorder: but exhort daylie one-another to the go•••• Beeing / in all Loue. also to all Stilnes / and chast or discrect Orderlynes / with vprightc Counersation and shut out of your Heartes / all wicked Desires.

19. Shewfourthd Pacience in like-maner / in 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Temptation or Assalting to the euell-thinges: 〈◊〉〈◊〉 praye vntoe God in the Spirit / that hee will be you Healper / and release or ridde you out of all the T•••••••• tations of the wicked Thinges which so assault you To thend that yee at no-tyme fall to any euell / 〈◊〉〈◊〉 yet commit anyf inordinate Dealinge / wherby 〈◊〉〈◊〉

shoulde come into the Snares of their Destruction. but that yee maye becomeg releassed ther-from / for to malke in all Trueth.

20. Moreouer / when yee stand-disposed to imploy your-selues to the right God seruice / or to doo anye good Woorkes {reversed ;}wherin yee serue the God of Life / or your Neighboure; / so execute you then the-sameh with all diligence of Heart.

21. Fayne or couer you not therin in any-case / as seeking {reversed ;}after the apparaunce of the Eye;i to please Men therwith: but doo and purpose the same / out of all your Soule and Thoughtes / that yee walke not deceitfullye / with falsek Heartes / nor deale falsite against God or his God seruice: and sol forsake the Lawe of the Lorde.

22. Therfore keepe your Heartes pure or vnspotted from the Hipocrifie orm Doubblenes of heart. For / to deale hypocriticallie towardes the vpright Vertues and God seruices / or to haue therin a double Heart / is aseducing Sin̄e / that God leaueth notn vnpunished.

23. IF yee then will not that the Wrath of God should come or fall vpon you / so dealeo faith∣fullie before God and his Holyons: and walke with your Spirit / in the louelie and verteous Beeinge:

24. Fasten your Minde therto: and buylde your Righteousues theron. For that is an eternall fast∣standingep Foundation / wher-on all Gods Pro∣pheatesq and Holyons haue buylded: and is Christ hymself.

25. SEeinge then that the verteous Beeing of the Loue or of God / is the true Founda∣tion of all the Holyons of God / the Wisedom of the Mosthighest / and Christ hymself: so esteeme the same

therfore for much worthyer / r then Golde and Siluer. For ther is no Riches / s of so great price / nor Preti∣ous-stones / so pretious / that {reversed ;}of Worthyues part; are to be compared vnto The same.

26. Therfore espowse your Soules to the same: and haue your communion therwith. For the Cleer∣nes or Illumination of the same verteous Beeing / is the truet Light of the godlie Wisedom: hys Foode / the lyuingv Bread of the heauenlie Beeing: and his Prudence / the holie Vnderstanding of the godlie Trueth.

27. [ D] WHerfore / if yee will gouerne well / with thex Scepter of the godly Ringdom: and if yee desire that Honour / Might / and Riches mought abounde towardes you / y then seeke first {reversed ;}before all thinges; the vpright and verteous Beeinge of the Loue or of God: and walke therin / so shall then Al∣thinges {reversed ;}sufficientlie; be brought vnto you.

28. But beware of the bewitchedz Vertues / which are common with the Worlde / and are suter∣mixed with Foolishnes and Vncomblynes: For all Such as take those-same in-hand / or communicate therwith / Theya looke-into or esteeme the inordind•••• Dealinges {reversed ;}according to the Lustes of their fleashlie Desyres; for right amiable Vertues.

29. Through which false Vertues / they take vn∣to themselues the Releassinge of the Heart from the Lawe of the Lorde / b to their Freedom / for to 〈◊〉〈◊〉 eauen so in the Lustes of their Fleash / accordinge to their Will / or accordinge to the same that the Knowledg {reversed ;}agreeinge with their fleashite Destres; figureth-fourth in them: the which is a false and 〈◊〉〈◊〉 ordinate Freedom.

30. THese false and bewitched Vertues / are well to be knowenc by their Nature: For there is no Feare of God / nor-yet true Beeinge / by them. And therfore also the vpright Wisedom / nor the true Light / becometh not declared through them.

31. For the self-clected Vertue / with her fool∣ish Loue / accordinge to the Fleash / is vtterlie blinde and without vnderstandinge / seekinge her Selfnes / in all her Dooing. And not / the Lorde / nor his true Beeing.

32. But thed Feare of the Lorde / and the Lawe of his Commaundementes / teach-men the vpright Vertue. For / in the Ende of their Waye or Doc∣trine / they bring the Man in all good and well-ex∣ercised Mindes / and to the truec Freedom / wher∣through the Wisdom of God [the true Beeinge / and the holy Vnderstandinge] becometh made-mani∣fest and all Vnrighteousnes put-downe and vtter∣ly rooted-out.

33. Forsake all straunge Wayes / which are with∣out the Howse of Loue / or that leade ether shewe-men any other-where: and harken not to nor beleeue anye other Seruice nor Information / but that which di∣recreth or pointeth you / to thek Obedience of the gra∣tious Woord / and to thel Vnitie in the Loue.

36. Forther is nothing better / ther shall likewise no better thing com nor appeere / then them Loue / with the Administration of her louely Beeinge.

37. FOr-that-cause then {reversed ;}my beloued Children; haue onlye your respect bent to the vnde ceaueable Seruice / which becometh administred by then Auncientes or Elders in the Howse of Loue {reversed ;}to the Edifying and Saluation of the People; according to the Lawe of the Most-highest: and submit all your Minde and Vnderstandinge thervnder.

38. For God hath chosen-hym the Howse of Loue / and his Seruice of the holie and gratious Woorde / to his Habitacion / and to an eternall Glorye of his godlie Malestie. 42. Which Communialtie of the same Howse / is Gods chosen People of Israell: and Hee himself with them / isx their God / and will likewise byde their God / from Generation to Generation / euerlastinglye.

43. And if it chaunce that they transgresse in any∣thing / so will hee then (like as a gratious Father pre∣••••enteth and nourtereth his louing Children / with Cor∣rection and Teaching) chasten / y teach / and infourme them. But hee will neuermore withdrawe his Grace ••and Mereye from them.

44. THerfore {reversed ;}my beloued Children; estraunge you not / nor turne-away yourselues / from the Howse of Loue. For ther is in The same thea Gtoole-of-grace / to an euerlastinge Remission of Sinnes / ouer all such as cleaue ther-on: and to a Peace andb Rest of the Life / for all such as humble them therunder.

45. Heere to / let all your Heartes stand-submit∣ted: and fitec the Shadowe of the wicked World.

Walke vprightlie both before God and Men: and eschewed all Deceit.

[ G] ANd if hee now indeuour your Heartes heerto / and desire nothing-els / but to liue in the good Beeing of God: so shall then no Igno∣raunce seduce you / nether-yet shall yee becom intang∣led or captiued by anye falsee Sectes / or deuided and discordablef Holynes / nor-yet by any false Heartes of the Seripturelearned. For God shall make-knowes vnto you {reversed ;}in the Seruice of the Loue; allg bandes and Seducinges / tendinge to Destruction: and nothing {reversed ;}needfull to Saluation; shall be wantinge vnto you.

47. For God hymself / will {reversed ;}as a Light of Life; be daylie / and at all tymes / at your Right-hand / for 〈◊〉〈◊〉h blesse and prosper you / in all your Dooinges / To thend that it may chaunce-well vnto you / and so ha•••• Ioye all your Life longe.

But if-so-be now that yee dispise my Cothe saile / receaue not my Doctrine / nor-yet feare God but geeue-ouer your Heartes / for to liue in all 〈◊〉〈◊〉 whichi seemeth-good or is wel-pleasing to your own selues / and followe-after the maner of the 〈◊〉〈◊〉 World / which isk full of Falshod and Deceipt / God fore-tell I you then assuredly / that all Infelicitie 〈◊〉〈◊〉l incompasse you / and {reversed ;}in all your Wayes; hange 〈◊〉〈◊〉 your Heads / for that it mought destroye you. And 〈◊〉〈◊〉 yee shall not see nor perceaue {reversed ;}in all those your erring Fourth-goinges; your Infelicitie and Thr••ld•••• before that it go very-euell with you / m and that 〈◊〉〈◊〉 haue brought your-selues into much calamitie 〈◊〉〈◊〉 iniserye: and cannot find how for to com againe 〈◊〉〈◊〉 the Way of Life.

49. This shall & without faile; fall vpon you / if-so-〈◊〉〈◊〉

that yee dispise the Wisdom / n contemne the Lawe of the Lorde / and take not to heart the Instruction of your Father: but geeue-ouer yourselues to the vayne or vnprofitable Thinges.

50. THerfore / take now myne Instructiō to heart: and consider theron: construe it to the best: and keepe it wello in your Mindes and Thoughtes: and take eauen so good-heede betimes / vnto all That wherwith I haue exhorted you to the good Beeinge and warned you of all Destruction / To thende that yee should lyue.

51. Howbeit / if yee will not receaue my Counsell and Doctrine / but followe-after your owne Counsailep and Goodthinking / So will I then also {reversed ;}both before God / and before you all;q cleere myself / of all the Mi∣serye and Calamitie that shall com vpon you.

52. [ H] For loe / I am {reversed ;}doutles;r vngiltie of all your Infelicitie / because I haue so-much and sufficientlie / exhorted and infourmed you to the good Life / as also marned you of the Destruction: and yee haue not will∣ed to heare mee / nor-yet to take to heart the Informa∣tion to the Good / nor the Admonition from the De∣struction.

53. For / in what tyme / that the Infelicitie / with his de∣struction / hath incompassed and bewrapped you in all your Wayes / and that yee shall see / that it cometh / the longer the harder / vpon you: Than shall yee lament and complaine yous / that yee haue followed your owne Counsalle / forsaken the Lawe of the Lorde / and not taken to Heart the Wisdom and the Iustruction of your Father.

54. But / if yee stand-minded to feare the Lorde / to be obedient to his Lawe; that passeth-fourth

presentlie out of the truet Sion; / and his Woorde {reversed ;}that passeth-fourth presentlie out of the heauenlie Ierusalem; / and to geene-ouer yourselues / after•••••• Counsell and Instruction (according to it all / as the Lorde hath reuealed the true Beeing vnto Mee / out of Sionv and Ierusalem) whollie and altogether / So will I then in like-maner / eauen out of heartie Loue / stand seruiceable {reversed ;}so-much as I may in the Lorde; vnto you / daylie {reversed ;}and at all tymes; thervnto / To thend that yee should feare the highest God / and mought learne to knowe his Righteousnes. SEeinge now that I haue hearde many good Documentes {reversed ;}that do demon∣strate to the true Life and Godlines; [ A] of my Father / and that I am also year younge and vnexpert / in the spirituall and holy Vnderstandinge / So is it in like-maner / right / orderlie / and expedient or meete / that Ia submit myself vnder my Fathers Doctrine / liue according to his Counsaile / take-heede to his Instruction / and order and applie mee ther∣after / To thende that I ouershoote not myself / in my young-alge / nor becōb deceaued by my younge Vn∣derstandinge nor-yet seduced by anyc Self-wise∣dom / d Goodthinking / or Imagination of the Know∣ledge.

For-that-cause {reversed ;}O my Father in the Loue; I submiet my-self (and whollie geeue-ouer myself and all myne Vnderstanding) vnder the Wisdom of thy Doctrine: and desire to demaund of thee / my Father / also to heare / and to answere thee: and to lyue and walke obedientlie / accordinge to all thye Counsell / in the Nowse of Loue.

O My Sonne {reversed ;}my Beloued in the Loue; standeth thine Heartf inclyned to the Wisdom / and is thy Lust bent / to the holye Vnder∣stading / for to lyue and walke vprightlie in the Howse of Loue: then speake-on {reversed ;} my Sonne; / and demaund all that wherin thou desirest to be instructed: And ther shall good Instruction be geeuen thee therof / accord∣ing to the godlie Wisdom / and the Declaration of all that wherof thou demaundest mee / shall {reversed ;}out of the Wisdom; becom opened vnto thee.

FIrst-of-all {reversed ;}my Father; my Demaund is to thee: Whether it be permitted / and requi∣site ether beseeming / for Mee {reversed ;}and all Disciples and Littleons of Vnderstanding; / to demaund the Eld∣est in the holye Vnderstandinge {reversed ;}or the Father of the Famelye of Loue; of all Thinges / for to knowe the difference therof / and to require of hym / to be instruc∣ted and resolued in the same: For many suppose / that to knowe the Difference of all thinges / is the right Knowledg of the Wisdom?

[ B] OF that {reversed ;}my Sonne; wherof thou demaund∣est mee / I will {reversed ;}out of the Wisedomg of the Mosthighest; geeue thee good Instruction. and de∣clare vnto thee {reversed ;}accordinge to the Trueth; the right Difference / out of what maner of minde and Intent / that it is permitted the Disciples and Littleons of Vnderstanding / and also very meete or requisite for them / to demaund for the Resolution and Instructi∣on in the Wisdom: and in what maner-of-wise / they ought to submitt and behaue them / towardes the Eld∣est in the Loue / of whom they require the holye Vn∣derstandinge / for to becom rightlie taught and ••••∣structed / in the godlyeh Wisdom.

6. BErelye / to knowe the Difference of all Thinges / is no righti Knowledg of the godlye Wisdom: but the Loue {reversed ;}with her vericous Nature and Beeinge; is the vpright Wisdom of the godlie Knowledge:

And whosoeuer is taught to the same / or hath in∣herited the same / in her Seruice {reversed ;}as that Shee be plan∣ted in hym withk Meekmyndednes; / Hee hath the right Knowledg of the true Wisdom / and the most∣holie Vnderstandinge: and is a Fellowe-elder and Father in the Howse of Loue / which bringeth-fourth {reversed ;}out of the Treasurel of his Heart; the vpright In∣struction of the Wisedom.

8. Seeing then that thou demaundest of mee / whe∣ther it be permitted the Disciples / to demaunde the Eldest in the godlye Wisdom / of all Thinges / for to knowe the Differēce therof / and to require Instructiō therin / of hym / So geeue-eare then and vnderstand / how they all which are year younge in the holye Vn∣derstanding / and desire to demaund the Eldest in the godly Wisdom / for to be instructed and resolued in all thinges / ought to stand-minded: and in what-ma∣ner of wise also / that they {reversed ;} with their Heartes; ought to submitt them to the Eldest.

[ C] First / it behoueth or ther is required / that the Dis∣ciples and all Littleons of Vnderstanding / together with all Goodwillingōs to the Righteousnes {reversed ;} which desire to becom taught / trayned / and exercised / by the Eldest in the Famelye of Loue / in the godlye Wise∣dom and holye Vnderstandinge; should geeue-ouer themselues to be obedientm Disciples of the gratious Woorde and his Seruice of Loue / and that theyn turne them away eauē so {reversed ;}according to the Requiring of the gratious Woord and his Seruice; from al theiro Selfwisdom and Knowledg / that riseth vpp or becō∣eth imagined in them: also take nothing in-hand them selues / out of their owne Counsell: nor-yet stand-per∣swaded / that they thē selues {reversed ;}before their newp Birth out

of the Doctrine and Spirit of the gratious Woord; knoweq anye-thing / nether-yet can {reversed ;}accordinge to the Trueth;r iudg rightlie: but that they {reversed ;}with all their Heart; geeue-ouer themselues and all their Vnder∣standinge {reversed ;}singlemindedlie; in the Wisedom and Counsell of the Eldest / for to heare the right Sentēce•• of Hym / and to becom taught eauen so {reversed ;}out of the Counsell of God;s in the godlie Wisedom.

Secondlie / it behoueth / that all their Minder Will / and Meaning stand minded / to demaund-af∣ter / noryet iust to heare / any other thing (for to knowe the same) but onlye this / namelie / Which are the vp∣right Wayes of the Lordet / how they should enter in∣to thosesame and walke in them / and eauen so {reversed ;}in the good-pleasure or Delight of the Mosthighest; haue their Fourth-going therin / for tov growe-vpp in the vpright Vertues of God / and in the souelie Beeinge of the Loue / To thend that they mought eauen so {reversed ;}growing vpp in the Oldnes of the godlie Wisedom and holie Vnderstandinge; become perfect Men / in thex Olde-aige of the Man Christ / also Elders and Fathers of the holie Vnderstandinge administer the holiey Woord of Life / in the Famelie of the Loue and eauen so lyue and walke in the vprightz Righte∣ousnes and Holynes: And not / for to carye the Re∣solution and Instruction {reversed ;}as in maner of a Know∣ledge; in their Memorie or Vnderstandinge.

Thirdlie / they ought to beware / that they distrusta not the Eldest in the Famelie of Loue / nor suspect any-maner of euell or vnwisedom by hym: nor-yet also in anywise perswade themselues / that the Exerci∣ses / Documētes and Instructions / which are taught or setfourth before them / by the Father of the Famelye

of Loue / or Oldest-elder / are tob flight / to chyldish / or to vnwise / for them to followe-after or to obey. But 〈◊〉〈◊〉 with perfect Heartes;c humblelie andd single-min∣dedlye {reversed ;}eauen as good willingee Children vnto the Obedience; to receaue the same Instructions / pro∣ceedinge out of the Wisdom and Counsell of the Eld∣est: and to stand eauen so submitted alwayes {reversed ;}till vnto the manlief Oldnes in the Loue; vnto the holie Woord and the Exercises or Orders of his Seruice of Loue / singlemindedlie andg obedientlie / as Those that haue a Lust / to doo the Lordes Will.

Fourthlie / it is expedient / that they shouldh make manifest their whole Heart / with all their Counsailes / Mindes / Willes / and Thoughtes / together with all their Dooinges / Dealinges / and Exercises / naked and bare / before the Eldest in the Famelye of Loue: and not coueri or hyde any-thing (be it what it is) be∣fore Him. also all wherunto their Inclination / ••yude / and Nature draweth them / and all wherwith they becom tempted or assaulted in their Heartes / To thend that they mought heare good Instruction and an vp∣right Difference of all thinges / wherin they erre or go-amisse and vnderstand the cleere Resolution ther∣of / for that they mought order or indeuour them ac∣cordinglie. and growe-vpp eauen so in the holyek Vnderstandinge {reversed ;}to alll Concordablenes / with the Famelye of Loue; / and in all Godlynes of the vp∣right Life.

13. BEholde and marke this well / my Sonnes In such a State / Minde / and Will / it doth very-well beseeme the Disciples / and all Little∣ons of Vnderstandinge / together with all Goodwiss∣ingons to the Righteousnes / to demaund and heare

the Eldest ؛the Father of the Famelie of Loue{punctel} and to require the good Declaration of the Trueth / of Hym / for to becom eauen so infourmed and taught / vprightlie and accordinge to the Trueth / in the godlie Wisedom.

[ D] I Perceaue and note well {reversed ;}my Father; that thou hast witnessed vnto mee at-full / the cleere Resolution or Declaration {reversed ;}of that wherof 〈◊〉〈◊〉 haue demaunded thee; accordinge to the Trueth and figured fourth before mee / the right Style or Ground of the vpright Disciples and Littleons of vnderstan∣dinge / that desire to becom instructed in the godly Wisdome and holye Vnderstandinge.

15. But {reversed ;}alas; ther are Fewe / that will {reversed ;}in such-•••••••• wholly geeue-ouer themselues / or that will {reversed ;}after su•••• a-maner; learne the holie Vnderstandinge / and 〈◊〉〈◊〉 ••odlie Wisedom / in the Seruice of the Loue.

THe Fayle or Fault {reversed ;}verelie; is This: [ E] Because ther are Manye / which will / themselues {reversed ;}out of themselues;n bee / and also knowe Som-what / and geeue not God theo Honour / that 〈◊〉〈◊〉 mought haue the Foregoinge in his gratious Woorde and Seruice of the Loue: and beare∣••••uye towardes the Eldest in the godlie Wisedom (whom God hath illuminated with his Light / for to illuminate or geeue-light to them that dwell year inp Darknes vpon the Earth). or vouchsafe-not ••••em / the gratious Woorkes of God {reversed ;} which God is workinge by hym; / nor allowe hym therin: nether∣••et laude or thanke the lyuinge God in all hys Woorkes / which hee is shewinge and extending on his cleeced Holyons.

For these occasions sake / they bide all {reversed ;}whilst that they humble not themselues vnder thissame loue ••••and vpright Seruice of the Loue; suared / vexed / and burdened / with their owne Knowledge and selfq Elected-wisedom or Goodthinkinge. To the which also / they {reversed ;}with their Will and Pleasure; are cap∣••••ued / and bound / or maried: seekinge all That / which according to their Knowledge; is wel-pleasinge vn∣to them. and not / to be obedient to the Woorde not Woorke of the Lorde / nor to the Requiringe of him Seruice of Loue.

geeuec God the Honour / that Heeis the Worker hymself in his Seruice of Loue: and prayse / laude / and thank him for the Goodnes of his Workes / d that hee hath declared-fourth his true Light and holye Wise∣dom / vpon the Earth / among the Children of Men: and so geeue-eare {reversed ;}as singleminded Children; to the Primates / or principall Elders in the same Light / as also followe-after them {reversed ;}in the Seruice of the Loue; obedientlie: For all These or Such-like / ther is good Remedye or Counsell to bee had: and they may also right-well be holpen / with small labour. For / after this maner (as is before saide) theye seperate them or go-out / from themselues / and from all their Dark∣nesses: and com or enter in / to the true Light of Life / that becometh administred and figured-fourth before them / in the true Seruice of Loue. Which Light / isf Christ hymself / which releasseth all them that com vn∣to Hym / from theirg Burdens or Bandes / and ligh∣teth them with his Light. For Hee hymself is the Rest / h the Life / andi Peace. and the true Light / to the Preseruationk of all Men which beleeue in Hym.

2. But all what remayneth ther-with-out / must perish in his owne Wisedom of the Darknes / l and dye in his Synnes: also obtaine the euerlasting Con∣demnation / and not beholde the louelie Face of God and Christ / for euermore.

For whosom curneth him not about / to become 〈◊〉〈◊〉 a Childe: but bydeth by himself / and will followe 〈◊〉〈◊〉 owne Counsell and Wisedom / hee cometh notn to the Light / in the Communialtie of the Holyons. And whoso adioyneth not hymself obedientlie {reversed ;}vnder the Obedience of the Loue; to the Communialtie of 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Holyons / ther is no Counsell to healpe Such-a-one /

nor yet to make hym safe.

But now ther are Many / that knowe not at-all of the true Light: nor yet haue hearde therof / which now {reversed ;}in theese last Tymes; isp manyfested and to uealed {reversed ;}through the Grace of God; among vs Little∣ons and Poore of Spirit / in the Howse of Loue. Al∣so ther are Manye / that haue hearde therof but yet not vnderstanded / that this our Doctrine or Mini∣stration of the holye Woorde {reversed ;}which now becometh administred / through the holye Spirit of the Loue of God and Christ; is the vpright and liuingq Water / that floweth fourth out the Loue: nor yet likewise could comprehend or conceaue-in-mynde / that the same Voyce of the holy Spirit of Loue / is Gods Voyce / and his lastr Trumpet / which Hee presenilie / to the Purginges of the Earth / to the Sanctification of all People / to thet Blessinge of all Generations of the Earth / and to the Establishing of his Promises; let∣teth to be heard out of his most-holie Heauen: ne••••••e yet also beleeue / that the Seruice of the holie Woorde vnder the Obedience of the Loue / becometh admini∣tred to that effect.

6. Touchinge Those now: O my Father; 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Demaund is / Whether that They that knowe 〈◊〉〈◊〉

heerof / and also they that are ignorant heerin (and for that cause do not beleeue the louelye Beeinge of the Loue ؛the gratiousv Woord reuealed out of God{punctel} but heare / beleeue / and follow-after themselues / and their owne Imaginationx of the Knowledge) are worthy to be blamed: and whether that they likewise must now of right / haue sentence passe against them or receaue any punishment / in thissame last Day of the Loue / which is the true Day of the righteous Iudg∣ment of God?

Thissame God seruice / this holye Woorde / this trued Light / and louelie Beeinge and the Sound or Fame of the same / shall breate-in amonge all Nations of People / and le••t itself to bee heard ouer all Landes: in such-wise / that eueryone which geueth-care thervnto and beleeueth the same / shall see and vn∣derstand in his Heart / as also certainelye knowe and

feele by or in himself / that all Those which lyue not in the same true Light {reversed ;}that becometh witnessed and ad∣ministred in the Seruice of the Loue; / nor are com∣prehended therof / and which haue not wholly geeuen∣ouer nor yet will geeue-ouer themselnes to Obedi∣ence / in the Communialtie of the Loue / f walke year in Darknes.

12. THis perceaue I now well {reversed ;}my Father; [ D] that thou hast witnessed vnto mee the Trueth / of that wherof I haue demaunded thee. But now / my Demaund is year farder to thee:

For that ther are many / which do both suppose and also say / that they haue thex Light / and witnes likewise therof / out of the Imaginaciō of their Know∣ledg. and yet haue not their communiō / with our Cō∣munialtie of the Loue / Wherby shall now the Good∣willingons to the true Light / knowe the true Lighty /

and the false Light / and wherthrough maye they / dis∣cerne the one from the other of them: Namelie / which / or in what sort / ether-other Light is {reversed ;}the True / in His Fourme / and the False / in Hys Fourme;: and where-out ether-other proceedeth or hath his Origi∣nall? To thende that I {reversed ;}O my Father; and all that heare thee / maye vnderstand the Difference betwirt the true and the false Light / and so followe-after the true Light?

THe Difference betwixt the True and False Light / and from Whence ether-other proceedeth / wee haue largelye {reversed ;}with full Resolution and cleere Distinction; witnessed and declared in thez Glasse of Righteousnes / and in the spirituall Lande of Promise / or heauenlie Io rusalem. But seeing now that it falleth-out at this present in our Communication / to speake there-of / therfore I will {reversed ;}brieflie; witnes and declare also the Trueth therof / vnto thee:

The XV. Chap.

THe truea Light (vnderstande it / my Soune) is the euerlastinge Life itself: [ A] and by them to whom it is com or manifested / in the Obedience of the gratious Woorde and his Seruice of Loue / it intob a Light of Men / to the Presernation in the Godlynes / of all such as

beleeue therin.

2. Thissame true Light / c hath his Originall or Fourth-cominge out of the louelie Beeinge / and true Minde of the eternall and lininge God: and therfore it is also the eternall Life itself.

3. This true Light and eternall Life / bring∣eth with hym thed Mercye-seate of the kingelie Malestie {reversed ;}which is / e God / Christ / and the Holy∣coste itself; / also all spirituall Treasuresf and hea∣uenlye Riches / and all Loue and Peace / in the Godlynes.

4. And eauen so {reversed ;} out of this high Maiestie of God; doth this true Light shewe-fourth his Ser∣uice / through the illuminatedg or godded Man / with whom the Most-highest {reversed ;}through the selfsame Light and his Seruice; is also manned: Wit∣nessinge and declaringe / how that the true Light / consisteth not in the knowinge of This or That. but is an vpright and true Beeinge of Godh / and his eternall Life.

5. Whosoeuer now therfore {reversed ;}through the Ser∣uice of the holye and gratious Woorde; becometh comprehended of this true Light / in the Loue / and in the Obedience of her Seruice / and is growen-vpp eauen so therin / till vnto the manlyei Oldnes of Christ andk taught in such-sort to the Kingdom of Heauen / Hee ministreth-fourth then the same / accor∣dinge to the true Beeinge.

6. Not {reversed ;}verelye; for that anyman should haue onite the Knowledge therof: but that they all {reversed ;}which heare / beleeue / and are obedient to the Seruice of the holie Woord; mought becoml partakers {reversed ;}m in the Renewinge of their Spirit and Minde; of

the same truen Light / and of his vpright and louelye Beeing ando incorporated {reversed ;}with their inward Mans vnto the same. and that they should eauen so lyue and walke in the samep Light / in all Loue.

7. BVt / the False Light / is the Imagination of the Knowledg or the Richesq of the Knowe¦ledge itselfe / which men {reversed ;}out of their Ingeniousues or Humaine-prudentie; take vnto them / ere-euer that they haue bene obedient vnto / and fulfilled {reversed ;}til-vnto the second Birthr from the Dead; the holie and gra∣tious Woorde / in the Seruice of his foregoing Tes∣tament. With which false Light / all wicked Nature / and all goodthinkinge Men and false Heartes of the Seripturelearned ands vnsent Preachers / together with such as turne them away frō the true Doctrine / seruinge to the Vnitie of the Heart in the Loue / and eauen so take-on the false Light / or geeue-fourth them∣selues through the same / to be Teachers and Minis∣ters of the Woorde / or to be esteemed and hearde for Such / haue in all aygest persecuted the Vpright-heartes. belyed and defamed them with false matters. yea / and also iudgedv or condemned them for Sedu∣cers and wicked Men.

Seeinge then that the false Light / hath not his Ministration vnto the seconde Birth or Renewings of the Life / for to lyue and walke {reversed ;}with an vpright Hearte and a meckeminded Spirit; in all Loue and Concorde: and that it bringeth with it / all Presumpie∣ous-boldnes and Lyes / and all Infamye / Sclaunder and Contempt / ouer the vpright Heartes / Therfort do all false Heartes and vnregeneratedx Seripture∣learned; which are arrogant and prowde / in these minde of the owne Wisedom; / and all such / as {reversed ;}with

an vnrenewed Heart / and falsey Holynes / or shewe of God seruice; administer the ceremonie Seruices therout / and set-forwarde or maintaine the same in Dissention / gladlie take-on and imbrace the same: and also busilie applye them ther-in / with a feruent zeale nearnestnes. For ther-vnder they can best-of-all {reversed ;}be∣fore all vnlighted People; couer their wicked Nature / z and the falshod of their Heartes: and get thea Esti∣macion at mens handes / that they haue the right Doctrine / and that they do no wrouge / in their Perse∣cution / Sciaunder / and Lyes or Euel-speakinge a∣gainst the Vpright-of-heare.

9. But they will not humble themselues obedientlie vnto the trueb Light / nor-yet by Those / wher through The same and his vpright Doctrine becometh admi∣nistred / vnder the Obedience of the Loue: butc hate the true Light / and also the vpright Doctrine / that be∣cometh taught out of the same. And for this cause they hate the true Light / and the godlie Seruice of his Docirine / namely: because their wicked Heartes becomd chastised ther-by and their vngodlie Woorkes and false Witnessinges made-knowen vnto them. and also / for that they aree not sent of God / for to teach.

10. WHeare now therfore thissame Richesf of the Knowledg (aboue rehearsed) is talgninge. [ C] and receaued or taken-on {reversed ;}by the false heartes of the Scripture-learned / and by the pre∣sumpteous-bolde or prowde selfwise and goodthink∣inge Men; for a Lightg of the true Wisedom: and that also any Seruice of the Woord / becometh set∣fourth and administred by them / for an holie Woord many Seruice / for a right God seruice / theare is then

the same Ministration false: For it stretcheth no far∣der / but to the breedinge ofh Schysme / Parcialitie and Sedition amonge the People: Wher through each Sece or Congregation / or the vnilluminated vnsent Teachers of the same / busye and applie them verye earnestlie about the profounde Knowledge of the Scriptures or high Vnderstandinges / accordinge to thei pleasinge ether contentation of Men / or about a paintedk Holynes or false Righteousnes according to the Fleash or outward Apparannce / that hath {reversed ;}be∣fore the fleashlie-minded; a Shewe of Righteousnes: But inwardite / theirl Nature or Minde is full of Iniquitye / and full of all false Witnessyuges / a∣gainst Gods gratious Woord / and his Ministers: and they are not eis-what / but a Nest of Deueis / and of all wicked Spirites.

11. Therfore suerly / the Riches of the Knowledg {reversed ;}in all false Heartes of the Scripture-learned / and in all presumpteous or arrogant Self-wise; is the false Spiritm of Antichrist / which {reversed ;}through his shew of outward Holynes / and greate knowledge in the Scripture; worketh a secreatn Iniquitie: and esteem∣eth himselfs as more woorthy then the Loue and her Seruice / and aboue the Wisdom of God / or the by¦right Life; to bee the Spirit of the full Wisedom itself.

12. Seeing now then that it all is nothinge-els but Knowledge / and a painted or coloured Holynes and not the vpright Beeing of the Loue / nor the godlie Nature of Christ / So is it likewise a false and de∣ceiptfull Light: Yea so false and deceitfull / that all simple ando vnlighted Peope (which gladlie court to hauep the praise at Mens handes / that their Cause

is vpright / and haue not {reversed ;}with all their Heart; their re∣sect bent to the Seruice of the Loue {reversed ;}whose Admini∣stration tendeth to the euerlastinge Life / q which is a true Light of Men; / for to becomer incorporated or im∣pianted obedientlie {reversed ;}accordinge to the inward Man; vnto the same true Beeing) becom therwith seduced ors begyled. also captiued with manifolde Diuistons and Sectes. and so brought into manifolde Mise∣nes / Thraldoms and Calamities.

13. Neuertheles in all thissame / so hath heerto {reversed ;}ea∣uen in generall; euery sondry Sect or Opinlated-as∣sembite {reversed ;}in their Vnderstanding of the Knowledge; their respect bent to the false Light: and they minister-fourth the same likewise / as-though Thatsame / werer the Woorde of the Lordel. and the Illumination of the holye Spirit. Wher through the common People becom so bewitched / that theyv cōtemne the true Light / also enuye and speake-euell by the Seruice of Loue and the Minister of the same / and byde altogetherx estraunged from the vpright Beeinge of the highest God and Christ.

14. THis false Light / and Hee that is seduced and begiled therby. and also {reversed ;}in his Good∣thinking; clymmed-vpp on-high therwith: and doth not turne him about obedientlie therfrō / to the single∣mynded Childehod. and to the Seruice of the Loue / The same will not / nether desireth to hearey nor beleeue anyman / that {reversed ;}vnder the Obedience of the Loue; doth witnes the Trueth of the true Light: noryet standeth∣bent to haue regard to Gods true Beeing / nor to Him / which {reversed ;}with his Spirit and Minde;z is of vniforme∣beeing therwith / but onlie to that which becometh ima∣gined in him by the Knowledg ؛that false Light{punctel}.

15. [ D] THe Originall from whence this false Light springeth / or frō whence his Com∣inge moreedeth / is out of the vnbeleeuing or douefulla After-surmisinge and Curious-scanninge / which the Man {reversed ;}through his ingenious prudentie; taketh-to-him / ouer the holy Vnderstanding of the Wisdom of God and his Testimonies / or to take and inter∣preat the same to the worst.

16. Hys Treasures of Wisedom {reversed ;}which the false Light bringeth with hym; are these:b Variaunce / Renting / or Diuision / and discordable Disputations about vnprofitable Argumentes / which are not to be discussed / nether do men growe to any ende therin / by the Knowledge.

17. WHose false Beeinge / is the Deuell / the Antichrist / the wicked Spirit / the King∣dom of Hell / and the Malestie of the Deuell himself wherthrough all Falshod and Deceit becometh in•••••••• mixed / among the Children of Men. and the Know∣ledge of the godlye Misteries / more meditated and laboured-for / then the Obedience to the good Life of the same.

[ E] OH {reversed ;}alas; Oh Woe vnto all the Genera∣tions of Men / which {reversed ;}through thec Ser∣pentes Counsell; haue taken to them the Poyson of the decelifull Knowledg / as a thinge hauinge a sweet cast. and not regarded at all the vpright Beeinge / not yet the Entraunce into the same.

19. Oh {reversed ;}my Father; standeth the case so: Whate ••erresonsd Time is it theu presently {reversed ;}for all People;

〈◊〉〈◊〉 secom saned! And what an heape of Miseryes 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Calamities is-ther {reversed ;}in these last Dayes;e for to 〈◊〉〈◊〉 ouer all them that dwell vpon the Earth / Be∣cause all Men (the which I presentlie note for-cer∣••••••••e / through the Manifestatiō of the Trueth) are so whoilie inclyned / to heare and to beleeue much-more 〈◊〉〈◊〉f false Light (which {reversed ;}with his Good-thinkinge and Riches of the Knowledge / and with his false or self-made Holynesses; administreth his false Wi••∣••••ssinges and deuided-partiall Seruices) then the true Light / that administreth {reversed ;}in the Seruice of Loue; the louely Beeing of God / and the good Exec∣uses or Orders of the same.

20. OVt of this thy cleere Instruction and Declaratiē {reversed ;}my Father; I vnderstand or comprehend presentlie / From-whence it proceedeth / and which is the Misse / that so fewe Men becom ••eued / although {reversed ;}notwithstanding; they are all called 〈◊〉〈◊〉 vnto. For I note-well presentlie / and finde it like∣wise in the Deede / that the most parte of People / doog ••heare and beleeue the false Light; and are deceaned and seduced by the same.

21. Now instruct mee also {reversed ;}my Father; / Whether that out of both these Lightes {reversed ;}namelye / out of the True and the False; ther are Freedomes also ingen∣••••ted. For I heare / that ther is now {reversed ;}in these perre∣lous Tymes; much ••alkinge of the Freedomes / a∣mong the Children of Men.

22. O Yea {reversed ;}my Sonne; Each Light engen∣dreth his Freedom. but the true Light /

engendreth a True and vprighth Freedom in 〈◊〉〈◊〉 Christ / which {reversed ;}in all that shee doth / dealeth-in / and ••••∣eth; is orderlie and coumblye / also harmfull to No∣man. but {reversed ;}much-more; edifyinge and healpfull cow∣ardes euery-man.

23. But the false Light / engendreth a False and vn∣orderlie ori vncoumbly Freedom: seeking the Owne∣selfnes. and not / that which seruech his Neighbour to Edifytuge or Reformation.

24. HOwbeit / in that ther is presentlie so much spoken of the Freedomes / amonge the Peo∣ple / and that Manye of them / haue a lust to their owne Freedom / that speake they {reversed ;}and let themselues lust for such; out of the Imagination of the Knowledge. The which is the false Light itself / that deceaueth them Wherthrough they are dr••uen and lead / to the Difore dience of the holie Woord / and to thek vnseemlie Cus∣comes or Exercises / and mordinate Freedomes; and forsake eauen so the vpright and true Freedom of the Children of God {reversed ;}which cometh vnto the Man / in thel Renewinge of his Spirit and Minde; / so that 〈◊〉〈◊〉 vtterliem want or misse the same / and can neuermore obtayne nor enioye it.

25. MY Father / which is then the vpright and true Freedom / that Fecometh engendred or brought-fourth out of the true Light?

26. [ G] THe true Freedom {reversed ;}verelte; is this: That the Man {reversed ;}through the Ministration of the

〈◊〉〈◊〉 Woorde / and the Declaringe of the true 〈◊〉〈◊〉 / vnder the Obedience of the Loue; becometh 〈◊〉〈◊〉 / from himself / and from all his taken-on knowledg / Wisdom / Will / and Selfmindednes / or to haue throughly vnlearned the same: and that also his heart / Spirit / and Minde / is whollien released and ••••rged or purified from all wicked Nature / which with raigned ouer hym: and that thero dwell / liue / nor rule any other thing in hym [namelie / in all his Spi∣rit / thoughtes / Minde / and Soule] but alone the true God head / with his louely Beeing of the vpright Loue: 〈◊〉〈◊〉 / to be so whollie repleanisyed with all Vertues of God / that ther flowe nothing-els in hym [namely / in 〈◊〉〈◊〉 is Spirit and Minde] but the spirituall / heauen∣•••• / and liuingp Waters: Which spring-vpp or flowe∣••••aine {reversed ;}at that tyme; from hisq Bodye / eauen into 〈◊〉〈◊〉 eternall Life. Beholde / that is the vpright Freedom of all the children of God and Christ / where-vnto also the Man ist made / by his God / that hee should inherit such a Freedome / in his God / To thende that hee should not be a Seruaunt ofv Men / of thex Sinne / nor of the Deuell but lyue {reversed ;}in ally Loue; to his God / 〈◊〉〈◊〉 the same vprightz Freedom.

28. BErely {reversed ;}my Father; that is a right-good and syncere Freedō / which thou hast heere defined and declared vnto mee. [ H] For it is the self same Freedom / wherof Christ hath spoken / saying: If that yee abide 〈◊〉〈◊〉

my Woordes / a so are yee then my vpright Disciples. In which Disclpline yee shall knowe the Trueth: and the Trueth shall make you free.

29. Therfore hee is {reversed ;}a-right; made-free (liteas I presentlie heare of thee / my Father) that is releassed from hymself and his Selfmyndednes / and from all wickedb Nature andc incorporated to the Trueth / in her true, spirituall, and heauenlie Beeinge / and eauen so knoweth the Trueth.

30. NOw infourme mee likewise {reversed ;}my Father; which is the false Freedom / that becometh engendred out of the false Light / or hath his proceed∣inge ther-out?

The Father.

THe false Freedom of the false Light / is this: [ A] That the Man setteth his Con••••∣bence / and the Contentation or Appaisemēt of his Heart / vpon thea Knowledge / and will likewise {reversed ;}out of his Knowledg; make hymself ho∣lye and righteous: and so perswade hymself / that the Riches of the Knowledg / is the Wisdom of God it∣self. Wher-with hee supposeth / to haue / to knowe / and to inherit / all what is needfull for him / and that hee lacketh not anything more. Wherthrough hee siueth freemindedlie {reversed ;}out of his Knowledge; in all thing to that hee vseth. But it is all false and a meere dece•••• For the falseb Light [the which is the Imagination

of the Knowledg] hath seduced his Heart / to the Ap∣plisement on the Knowledg / and so begyled hym.

2. Out of thissame Appaisement of the Heart on the Knowledge / ther ariseth manye-maner of false Dealinges: as also certen falsec Exercises or Vsa∣••es / which beare a good Shewe / wherwith many ig∣norant People {reversed ;}that knowe not any Difference / be∣twirt the True and the False Light;d becom seduced and deceaued.

For certen take-in-hand and vse / out of the I∣nagination of the Knowledge {reversed ;}wheron they set their hearies at peace; false God-seruicese / which they notwithstanding institute or bring-in / for true God∣seruices / Religions / Lawes / and Commaunde∣mentes of God: and plant the same Knowledge / into the People / As-though they ought {reversed ;}of right; to be oxdient ther-vnto.

4. Certen other bring-fourth {reversed ;}out of the Freemind∣enes of their Heart; many-maner off Witness∣••igts and Expositions / accordinge to the Imagina∣••on of their Knowledge. Yea they dare also to bost them verie-boldlie and impudentlie / that The-same / 〈◊〉〈◊〉g the true Light / shyninge in their Heartes: and that God hath reuealed the same vnto them / and that ••••y are the Testimonies of the holse Gost.

5. Againe / certen Other (whilst that they per∣••••ade themselues / that the Knowledg / is theh Trueth / which maketh them free) suppose (because they now knowe much / and that the Knowledg doth dayly ima∣••he much in thē) that it is the Spirit of Trueth / that ••••ueth or leadeth them into such an high Vnderstan∣••••gei of Much Knowledge: and that they far excell est simple People. Wherthrough certenk take-occa∣sion

to boste them of the Freedome: and affirme that it is all free to them / and lawfull for them / to dease-in and vse what they will / and what pleaseth themselues.

6. Heer-out now ther becometh the tradinge or iu∣uringe of many-maner of false and inordinate Free∣doms / taken-ourwhich accorde not / nor yet are dealt∣with-all / by the Children of God. But with these false Freedoms / the Man deceaueth hymself / andl sedit∣ceth or deceaueth also all them that heare / beleeue / and followe hym.

[ B] BEholde {reversed ;}my beloued Sonne; such am Lose∣nes of Heart {reversed ;}as to followe-after and deale∣with / whatsoeuer the Mann lusteth / and hath plea∣sure-in; is verelie the false Freedom / which becometh ingendred out of the false Light ؛the Imagination of the Knowledg{punctel} or proceedeth therout.

8. Oh what shall I saye more vnto thee heerof {reversed ;}my Sonne; but that thou applie chee alwayes obediently / to the Requiringe of the gratious Woorde and of his Seruice of Loue / and followe-after the Counsell of the godlieo Wisdom: and that thoup haue a sharpt regarde for falling {reversed ;}into the daunger of the false Free∣doms / which are so manye and manyfolde. For ther are Many seduced and deceaued / that tooke-on {reversed ;}out of the Imagination of the Knowledge; a Freedom to themselues: which could not becom made-free by the Trueth / nor by the true Light / Because they rose-vppq before thissame true Light of the Loue or / er-euer they were implanted obedientlye / to the gratious Woord in his Seruice: and so tooke to them the false Freedom / out of the false Light / as also bosted and set-fourth themselues to be freer Christians or free Children of God.

Therfore / the holie nor the mostholie / the true nor the most-true Light (Which the Most-highest hath presentlie {reversed ;}in his mostholie Seruice vnder the Obe∣dience of the Loue; geeuen vnto vs / for to bee decla∣red-fourth) haths not ben declared by any of them all / that haue taken-on / setfourth / and taught any∣thing / before thissame or without thissame our Seruice of the Loue.

[ C] THis vnderstand I well presentlie {reversed ;}my Fa∣ther; that before thissame / nor without this∣same our most-holie Seruice of the Loue [namelie from the Daye of Christ fourth / which hath benet dark∣••ed through the false Light and remayned inuisible ••till vnto this Daye of the Loue; before the Children of Men:] the True hath not bene setfourth / minis∣red / nor taught: and that ther shall likewise no Other light nor Cleernes {reversed ;}that can be true; appeere. nor∣•••• ••m at any-tyme heere-after / but the Light of the ••oue. 11. But now / of the false Freedom {reversed ;}wherof thou hast ••••en vnto mee; I must yeat demaund somwhat of 〈◊〉〈◊〉 / To thend that I may submit myself so-much∣•• more vprightlie / accordinge to the vpright Trueth:

12. Wherfore {reversed ;}my Father; termest thou this also

a false Freedome [to-weet] to sett-fourth Godser∣uices / Religions / and Doctrines / out of the Ima∣gination of the Knowledge. For I supposed that ther had bene none Other false Freedomes more / but the inordinate and false Vsages or Doinges / which becom taken-on and vsed {reversed ;}accordinge to thex inordi∣nate Woorkes of the Fleash; out of the Self-coue∣tousnes / and out of the earthlie and fleashlie Sen∣sualitie?

The Father.

13. [ D] IT is true {reversed ;}my Sonne; the inordinate andy vnseemlie Dealinges {reversed ;}which becom ta∣ken-on and occupyed with boldnes or freemindedne•• of Heart / out of the earthlie and fleashly mindes; an•• {reversed ;}no-dout; wicked and euel-deededz false Freedomes But consider this also / that ther cannot dwell an•• wickeder Freedom nor more damaigefull Thinge / 〈◊〉〈◊〉 the Heartes of Men / then a spiritualla Pryde / and 〈◊〉〈◊〉 lyue freemindedlie ther-in. Therfore cannot the Man (whilst that hee 〈◊〉〈◊〉 not yeat whollie godded {reversed ;}in One Spirit of the godl•• Beeing; with God) occuple or vse any-maner of fre•• dōs / that are falser / wickeder / absurder / sedueinger / a roganter nor horribler / against God and his vprig•• Seruice. nor-yet damaigefuller nor destructlen•• bler to the Children of Men / then this: Namely that anyman should becom so arrogant and free vnbounde of Heart / that hee {reversed ;}out of an appeased Co∣scieuce or contented Heart; should dare to teach or see fourth auythinge / through the Imagination of 〈◊〉〈◊〉

Knowledge (whether hee then haue taken-on the same out of the Learnednes of the Scriptures / or out of his good thinkinge Wysedom) as ab Woorde or Commaundement of the Lorde: or-yet to institute any Seruices {reversed ;}out of the Letter of the Seripture; accordinge to his Good-thinkinge / and so to plucke or make-subiect the Heartes of Men {reversed ;}to Dissention;c therunder.

15. I Tell thee trulie / that it is a great Pre∣sumption against God and his Sainctes / that the Man becometh so free of Heart / that hee {reversed ;}out of the Learnednes of the Letter / or out of the Imagi∣nation of the Knowledge; taketh vpon hym / to be a Teacher or Preacher: and cauen so instituteth his elec∣ed God seruices / which certes are false God seruices: or witnesseth ether speaketh-fourth any-thinge for trueth / that concerneth the godlie and heauenlie Thinges.

For no-man can rightlie {reversed ;}accordinge to the Trueth of the holie Seriptures / nor accordinge to the spirituall Vnderstanding of the godlie Wisedom; deale-in or vse the true God seruices / nor the Serui∣ces of the holie Woorde (it becometh not likewise / that anyman should take-inhaude to busye himself ther∣about) but onlte the illuminatedd Elders in the god∣lie Wisedom / which walke in the Howse of Loue: the which are growen-vpp obedientlie in the Ser∣uice of the Loue {reversed ;}from the Youngnes of their Vn∣derstandinge / till vnto thee Olde-alge of the Man Christ; in the godlie Wisedom / ands taught to the Kingdom of Heauen / as also haueg receaued the Woorde of Life / through the Powre of the Most∣lighest {reversed ;}out of his holie Heauen; from the liuinge

God: and are eauen so {reversed ;}through the same Woord; god∣ded with God {reversed ;}or incorporated to God; in all Loue. With whom also / God {reversed ;}h in One Beeing and Powre of his holye Spirit; is hominified or becom man.

For ther is none other Communialtie of Holy∣ons / nor true Christianitie / but the Communialtie of Holyons / s in the Loue of Iesu Christ / and all Such as adioyne them therunto / and growe-vpp {reversed ;}vnder the Obedience of the Loue; in the same Loue / to Elders of the holie and godlie Vnderstandinge.

OH {reversed ;}my Father; [ A] my Heart trem∣bleth / when-as I heare thee speake of the manifolde false Freedomes / which becom now so vsed / traded / and set-fourth / in all the Worlde! Oh! Whether shall then the Children of Men gett them / that they moughta escape all these deceltfull Snares?

O Lorde God / heauenlie Father / What a spe∣tiall cause haue I / to laude and thanke thee for all this / that thou hast graunted me little Youngone {reversed ;}through the Seruice of thy Loue; to knowe all these secreat Treasures of the godlie Wisedom also manifested such an heauenlie Trueth / in mee and brought and ••eenen mee all this / for to enioye.

A Morning-prayer / to be sayde vnto the Lorde / when wee ryse.

My beloued Children / and thou Famelie of Loue: All the Dayes of your Life / see that yee pray euerya Morninge vnto the Lorde / that hee will vouchsake to keepe and preserue you. And let eueryone pray eauen∣thus:

O Most-gratious Father: Let my Pray∣er in all This / v becom hearde of thee. and my Supplication / enter into thyne Eares: and holde alwayes thy mercifullx Eyes ouer mee: and teach mee without ceassinge {reversed ;}O Lorde; with the Rod ofy thy Discipline / To thende that I turne mee not asyde into any Bywayes / z from thee / and that my Heart thelyne hym not to thea Lightmindedons / and so forget thee.

4. KEepe mee {reversed ;}O my God; [ C] from all Gynnes and subtillb Suares of the Wicked / from all Bloud-thirstyonsc / and Violent-oppressours / and from all Workers-of-mischeef: that I becomd not destroyed nor swallowed-vp by the Vngodlie.

5. O louinge Lorde / preserue mee also from all the deceitfulle Contrary-spirites vnto thy mostholie Seruice of Loue / To thend that I becomf not {reversed ;}at any tyme; seduced or lead-away from thy Woorde and Seruice of Loue / nor from thy louelie Beeinge.

6. O Lorde / Lorde / my God {reversed ;}thou which art an vn∣thaungeableg Light / a most-constant Wisedom / and an eternall, true, and lyuinge God; Bee thou thyself {reversed ;}I beseech thee;h my Light / in these perreious tymes / to-thende that I malke not ini Darknes.

7. Be likewise {reversed ;}O God; [ D] my Knowledge / k Wysdom / and Vnderstanding / To thend that I {reversed ;}through any∣maner

of Ignoraunce / or through myne ownel Self-wisedom; seduce or begile not myself / nor-yet become arrogante or prowde: but delyuerm mee from the wicked Nature: and keepe mee vnder thy Night-haud / That I perish not in the Plages of then Vngodlye.

8. Sustaine and succour my Minde {reversed ;}in allo Pa∣cience; against all wicked and vnchristen or lyinge Men / and against all falsep Spirites / by whom I chaunce {reversed ;}at any-tyme; to becom tempted and as∣saulted: and leade mee {reversed ;}through thy Seruice of Loue; in allq Trueth. An Eueninge-prayer / to be saide vnto the Lorde / when wee lay vs downe to sleape.

My beloued Children / and thou Famelye of Loue: Forgett in no-wyse / to praye eneeye Eueningea vnto the Lorde / that hee {reversed ;}in the Night of your Sleape; will bouchsafe to keepe you / and prese••ue you from all De∣struction. And let eueryone praye eauen-thus:

I Pranse thee / O Lorde God hea∣uenlie Father: [ A] whose Woorkes / are allb vp∣right / holie / and good. For / in like-maner / as the Daye maketh-manifest hymself / and hath his conuenient Ctreuyte: and euery Daye bringeth-fourth hisc Time / for to labour in the same (according as the time requireth) about that which isd profitable / right / and meete / to a good Orderinge of all thinges (like-as thou {reversed ;}O holie Father; haste geeuen the same vnder the handes of the Children of Men): Eauen so doth the Night also make-manifest itself / to a conure

nient Rest / f To thende that the Man should than sleape / and rest-him / from all Trauell and Labour.

2. Seeinge now that this Daye is passed by mee / and that the Night approcheth / So will I therfore {reversed ;}O Lorde God heauenlie Father; geeue my-self to the Rest (accordinge to all thy good Ordinaunce) in thy holyeg Name.

[ B] HOwbeit / whilst that {reversed ;}in the Sleape of my Rest; the Sight of myne Eyes / and the Vnderstandinge of my Life and Minde / shall be closed or shut-to / So pray I thee {reversed ;}O holye Father; that thou wilth keepe mee / from all what is destructio∣nable / and preserue mee / from all Perrell that mought happen to the endamaginge of my Soule. For I will laye mee downe / and rest mee {reversed ;}O my God; in Thee: and shall not {reversed ;}in my Sleape; knowe anythinge of Thee / or of My-self.

4. But thynei Eyes are alwayes wakefull ouer all thy Seruauntes: and Thou art ak Fortresse / and a vigilant Powre / ouer all them that feare Thee. For thy Life and Minde / l doth nether sleape nor slumber.

5. THerfore {reversed ;}O holye Father; be thou in this Night {reversed ;}and in all the Nightes of my Rest; a good Watchman ouer my Soule and Bodye / and ouer all that which is committed and put-in-trust {reversed ;}to be well ordered; vnder my Handes.

6. O Lorde / Lorde: [ C] Be alwayes {reversed ;}I beseech thee; m watchfull ouer vs: and {reversed ;}as a stronge God; be our Defender and Keeper. For our Enemies go rounde-about vs / and our Aduer sariesn rest them not / Day nor Night / in seekinge to destroy vs: Yea / all wicked Nature raygeth / ando gnasheth his Teeth at vs /

and wolde gladly deuour vs.

7. But thou {reversed ;}O my God; hast the Powre and Pos∣sibilitie / p to keepe-of and chase-away all the Wicked and Vngodly from mee. and to preserue and saue mee ؛thy Hand-worke{punctel} from allq Destruction.

The XX. Chap.

A good Instruction / how one shall daylie prepare / or∣der / and endeuour hym / against the crafrie Assaultes and Deceit of the Synne.

My beloued Children / and thou Famelye of Loue: [ A] If yee will becō faith∣full Seruauntes of God / in the Seruice of the gratious Woorde vnder the Obedi∣ence of the Loue / So prepare your Soules thena to the Temptatiō. And when yee are tempted or assault∣ed / for to bee plucked-away {reversed ;}iutisinglie; from the Loue of God and her vpright Beeinge / and to yealde your consent to the Sin̄e and her Ministers / Thenb stand∣fast in Pacience / and shrink-not-away: to thende that yee {reversed ;}growing-vpp in the vpright Beeing of the Loue; may becom stronge against thec Syune / and against all that which is not Gods / and so alwayes becom stronger and stronger.

2. BVt whilst now that the Man is yeat {reversed ;}in the meane-tyme; heald-captiue with the Body of Death clothed with thed mortall Garment and bewrapped with the earthlie and cōsumeable Thinges: and must for-that-cause yeat daylie / deale and haue-to-do with thee Euemies ether Aduersaries of the Life or Christ (which daylie inuade / tempt / and assault hym on euery-syde / for to plurk hym {reversed ;}with hisf Will; after their deadlieg Lustes and Destres): So can∣not the Man {reversed ;}in his Youngues of the holie Vnder∣standinge / or in his Weaknes of the godlye Righte∣ousnes; well ouercom or preuayle {reversed ;}at the first; in theh Battaill of the same Assaultinges / withouti stum∣bling or fallinge but well / in hisk Oldnes of the holye Vnderstandinge.

[ B] EAuen-thus / my beloued Children / and thou Famelie of Loue / together with all yee Dis∣ciples of the gratious Woorde / in the Seruice of the Loue / and all yee Louers of the Trueth / and good∣willinge Heartes to the Testimonies of the holye Spirit of Loue / Let it not be tedious vnto you / to shew-fourths Pacience for a little tyme / when-as the euell Thinges [namelie / the euell Inclinations and the deadlie Enemies of the Life] make them vp in you / andt assault or tempt you / for to turne you away from the good Will that yee haue to the godlie Bee∣iuge / vnder the Obedience of the Loue.

For / after a little tymev of your distresse / afflicti∣on / and angwish or heauynes / the Lorde will bringe his Christ [that is his best-beloued and most-holye Beeinge] in Powre and Glorye / vnto you: as alsox tread-downe in you / and laye vnder your Feete / all your Enemies (which are also Aduersaries of the godlie Beeinge) that haue {reversed ;}with all Vnrighteous∣nes; dwelled in you / raigned ouer you / and brought all disquieenes / tedious-trauell / and veration vnto you.

6. YEa / eauen so will God now in these last Dayes / out of his heartie Loue {reversed ;}to the Blessingy and Saluation of the Man / according to the Promises; take-in his Howse and Iuheritaunce {reversed ;}to his Habitation;z with Righteousnes: and let you beholde {reversed ;}with the Eyes of a purea Heart; wher-to hee hathb created / chosenc / and loued you.

7. For yee shall euidentlie see / and / ind maner-of-suffering {reversed ;}through the Sufferinge of Christ; right-well perceaue / and finde-in-experience / that God / with his Christ / and Holye-gost / and with the hea∣uenlie

9. Suffer not your selues to bem vanquished by the Wicked / nor seduced by anyn Contrarye-spirites to our mostholye Seruice of the Loue: but in Pacience / o vanquish the Euell with the Good.

10. For / with the holie Spirit of the Loue / yee are able to resist / keepe-off / and quench-out / all Seduce∣inges risingp through the Wylye-craftynes of Men / wherwith they inuade you / for to catch and seduce you.

But if yee chaunce to offende in anye-thinge / or that yee becom somtymesq begyled through subtiltie. and sor plucked-away from the holye Minde of the godlie Doctrine of the holy Spirit of Loue (whether it be then through your owne Wisdom / or through any Venym that yee receaue of the viperous Generation / which {reversed ;}through the Imagination of the Knowledge; soweth nothingels but mortall Seedess / and Weedes {reversed ;}to an Intangleing; amonge the Children of Men) / yet bide not {reversed ;}for-al-that; lyinge in the deadlie Ve∣uym:t but stand-vpp agayne / and repent / and refreash

17. Into which Holie / hee is gon before vs: and ther-in Hee hymself bearetho our Synnes / through his Sufferinge and Death of the Crosse. [ F] FOr-that-cause {reversed ;}my beloued Iufances in the Loue; forsake not {reversed ;}in any-wise;d the Crosse of Christ / nor his Gulft or Meate-offeringe: nor-yet heape you vp to yourselues / one Sinnee vpon ano∣ther: but take-vppf your Crosse: followe-aftter Christ / the Scoole-of-grace: becom implanted to Hym / bap∣tised in hysg Death / washed with his Bloud / and so purged / to the Forgeeuing of your Synnes.

22. Doubt nor dispaire not of your Saluation: nor-yet becom youh feeble-minded in your Spirit. Feare not also / although your Synnes {reversed ;}which make-vpp themselues against you; be many and many folde•• and although that you finde your-selues yeat infirme and weake: but bei of good cheere / and bide alwayesk stedfast in the good Will.

23. For wee haue / ouer our mostholye Seruice of the Loue {reversed ;}and ouer all such as humble them ther∣vnder; a gratious and mercifull God / which know∣eth well what wee arel able to do. Hee doth also right∣well see-into and beholde the Heart / what wee theare will and desire.

24. If wee then desire in our Youngnes and Weaknes / to lyue {reversed ;}with whole Heart; in Gods holye Beeinge: and yet notwithstandinge stumble / stagger or fall someimes / m against our will / So loketh Hee in like-maner {reversed ;}with gratious Eyes; on our Iufirmitie or Weaknes. Yea / Hee hymself hath alson Compassi∣on with vs in our Weaknes and Smartes: and bea∣reth {reversed ;}with Pacienceo and Longe-sufferinge; our Synnes: requiringe no more of vs / then wee are able to do.

SEeinge now then that wee {reversed ;} [ G] in thissame Daye of the Loue; haue obtayned such Grace and Mercye / before the Mosthighest / so take then good-heede {reversed ;}Oyee chosen Holyons of God; to hissamep gratious Tyme / to the Purginge of your Spirit andq Minde / vnder the Obedience of the Loue: and ceasse not tor sigh and praye vnto your God / vntill that yee haue fealt and tasted in your Spirit {reversed ;}with Eyes of pures Heartes; the Refreash∣ing from the cleere and vncoueredt Face of Christ.

WHerfore / when-as now your stumbling and fallinge / becometh daylye figured very great and horrible before you: and that yee for∣that-cause {reversed ;}beeinge wofull of heart; feele yeatv the Prickinges of the Synne / the Dartes of the Death / and the Condemnation of the Hell / or beare the same / with angwish; in your Heartes / Yet feare not / nor the dismayed in your Heartes:x but shewe-fourthy Pacience: andz followe-after Christ / in his Suffer∣inge.

27. For those are the Dayesa of Affliction / Hea∣••••yes / and Death / wher-in Christ hath gon before you / in the Holye / for to prepare you {reversed ;}through the∣sameb

O Lorde God / [ A] heauenly Father {reversed ;}O God / full of alla Grace / Goodnes / and Mercye; thou which hast promisedb and assured thy Grace / and Forgeeuenes of Sinnes / vnto all them that {reversed ;}with repentant Heartes; turne them vnto thee / Be nowc gratious vnto mee / O holy Father / and forgeeue mee my Synnes: purged my Heart from the Iniquitie / and wash-awaye all myne Offences.

2. OH / how wo ande sorowfull am I / in my Soule: and how gree5uouslie am I stree∣ken and wounded in my Minde / for my Synnes cause:

O God {reversed ;}my Lorde and Father; rememberf not / I beseech thee {reversed ;}in thy righteous Iudgment; the ma∣nifolde-sort of my Synnes: but thinke vpon the Grace of thy heartie Mercyfulnes / which thou hast promised and assured to thy Howse of Loue. namely / that thou wiltg neuermore withdrawe thy Grace and Mercye from vs / nor from anye of them all / thath geeue or submitt themselues vnder the Seruice and Counsell of thy Howse of Loue.

WHerfore {reversed ;}O holye Father; [ B] seeinge that wee {reversed ;}in thesei last Dayes; haue founde such Grace / Fauour / and Mercie {reversed ;}which shall endure for∣euer; before thine Eyes / that thou wiltk not {reversed ;}at anye tyme; world-without-ende / reiect vs our Sin̄es cause but teach and informe vs {reversed ;}as a gratiousl Father; with manliem Chastisement / to Amendement: Healp vs thē now {reversed ;}O holie Father / in our Neede and Miserye / when wee call vnto thee / and whilst thy Healpe is day∣lye needfull vnto vs. For without thy Healpe / wee are able to do nothinge.

5. O God / be thou ourn Fortresse-of-defence / in our Weaknes: and remember / that wee {reversed ;}without thy Powre; are able to do nothinge. For when-as thy mightie Hand {reversed ;}with thy Goodnes; doth not staye vs vp / then are wee all / like vnto ao Reede that is moued heere-and-theare with euery Winde: that doth also lightlie bowe andp breake / when one leaneth vpon it / or stayeth him theron.

6. And in like-maner / as the Flowers and the hearbes of the Fielde / doo wither and fade-away: eauenso {reversed ;}O Lorde; is allq Fleash / before thy Face. For-that-cause {reversed ;}O God; wee synne verye-much be∣fore thee.

[ C] But {reversed ;}r mercifull Father; when-as wee iurne vs away from the Iniquitie: confesse our Sinnes / and leaue them: and sigh / praye / and crye vnto thee / for thy Fauour and Grace / So receaue wee thens Mercye at thy hande: and thou receauest vs {reversed ;}as thy beloued Children;t into thy Fauour / forgeeuinge all our Of∣fences:v and remembrest no-more our Synnes. But thou remembrestx thy Couenaunt of Grace / that thou hast made with thy Howse of Loue: and thinkest on all thy Loue andy Mercye / which thou hast promised to take-effect {reversed ;}in these last tymes; on vs / and on all such as adioyne themselues to thy People Israell [name∣lie / to the Communialtie of thy Loue] / andz coue∣naunted to keepe or continew the same for euer.

In all this {reversed ;}thy; aboundant Grace / Loue / and Mercie / which thou {reversed ;}O most holie Father; art extend∣inge on vs / Wee acknowledge {reversed ;}in the Trueth; that thou art a gratious God toward vs / anda iustifyest / and sauest vs {reversed ;}through thy Christ; from the Sinne.

A common Prayer / for to praye eauenso vnto God {reversed ;}in the Spirit; one for an-other / and to confesse our

Sinnes with each-other: and so to seeke all Healp and Comfort at the Lordes hande / when wee {reversed ;}for the Sifies cause; are becom sorowful-minded / and feeble-hearted.

O Lorde {reversed ;}thou almightie God; [ A] a Lorde of Heauē and Earth: Thou art the∣same which alone is righteous: whosea Wayes and Iudgmētes / are vpright and true. Now {reversed ;}O Lorde; be mindfull of vs: and extende thy Mercye ouer vs. Reuendge thee not on vs / b for our Synnes cause: andc thinke not once {reversed ;}O God; on our Offences.

2. Wee acknowledge and confesse {reversed ;}O God; that wee haue greeuouslyed synned. and not done / that which is right before thyne Eyes. Now {reversed ;}O Lorde God / heauenlye Father; Wee Poore and Misera∣ble / laye vs downe before thee / c to a Foote-stoole for thy Feete: Deale with vs; O God; accordinge to thy Will.

3. O Lorde / let vsf finde Grace before thine Eyes {reversed ;}thou Lorde of Lordes; which art {reversed ;}assuredlye; full of all Grace. O Lorde / remember wee beseech thee / that wee {reversed ;}out of our earthlye Birth; areg no∣thinge but Dust: yea nothing buth earth and asshes: and must {reversed ;}without thy Spirit; wither as thei Grasse of the Field: for ther is no powre by vs.

4. [ B] THerfore {reversed ;}O God; extend presentlie thy Mercye on thy Hand-worke:k teach vs through thy Lawe or Ordenaunce; thy Will: take∣away from vs / the vngodlie Beeingel of the Synne and Death / andm purge our Heartes from the Ini∣quitie: and strengthen vs in thy Righteousnes.n Leade vs {reversed ;}O God; in thy Wayes: and let thy holye Spirit raigne ouer Vs / for otherwise wee are able

to do nothinge {reversed ;}O God; before thee.

5. O Lorde / Lorde {reversed ;}thou Most-highest; sanctifie thyo Name / To thend that thy Glorye may becom knowne. Forp all Honour / Laude / and Prayse / belongeth to thee onlye: For thou alone art holye.

6. But vnto vs {reversed ;}O God; ther belongeth nothing∣els / but all basenes / shame / reproch / and contempt: for wee haue notq loued thee / nor sought thee with heart / nor-yet enquired after Thee / or after thy Wayes: but haue walkedr accordinge to our Desyres / and accordinge to the Selfmindednes of our Thoughtes: and are {reversed ;}with our will; so deepe-sonken in the Syn̄e / that wee {reversed ;}O God; without thy Healpe / can-not be∣com reseased.

7. WHilst now {reversed ;}O God; that thou hast nos pleasure in our Destruction / so call wee {reversed ;}O Lorde; to thee / that thou wilt vouchsafe to strengthen our Minde: and cure vs / of our Mise∣ries. O Lorde / make vst whole / and bringe vs to∣right againe.

8. O Lorde God / heauenly Father / bringe vs to∣right againe. For thou art almightie {reversed ;}O Lorde; which art thev God of all the Worlde: For besides thee / ther is no God more.

9. O God / let vs notx erre any lenger / nor be estran¦ged any farder from thee: but healpe vs: Otherwise wee must perish. O Lorde / y plucke vs to thee: pre∣pare our Heart: and leade vs out of thez Desolation of the horible Worlde.

10. Be mercifull vnto vs {reversed ;}O God; be merci∣full vnto vs / and leade vs out of the Destruction: For our Heart calleth to thee.

11. Destroye vs not {reversed ;}O God;a with the wicked Nature of Vngodlynnes: butb chas••en and nourtour vs {reversed ;}O most-louinge Lorde; with thyc father∣lie Discipline / accordinge to thy good plea∣sure. For our Heart bydeth-waitinge for thee / O God / for thy Grace.
