A good Instruction / how one shall daylie prepare / or∣der / and endeuour hym / against the crafrie Assaultes and Deceit of the Synne.

My beloued Children / and thou Famelye of Loue: [ A] If yee will becō faith∣full Seruauntes of God / in the Seruice of the gratious Woorde vnder the Obedi∣ence of the Loue / So prepare your Soules thena 1.1 to the Temptatiō. And when yee are tempted or assault∣ed / for to bee plucked-away {reversed ;}iutisinglie; from the Loue of God and her vpright Beeinge / and to yealde your consent to the Sin̄e and her Ministers / Thenb 1.2 stand∣fast in Pacience / and shrink-not-away: to thende that yee {reversed ;}growing-vpp in the vpright Beeing of the Loue; may becom stronge against thec 1.3 Syune / and against all that which is not Gods / and so alwayes becom stronger and stronger.

BVt whilst now that the Man is yeat {reversed ;}in the meane-tyme; heald-captiue with the Body of Death clothed with thed 1.4 mortall Garment and bewrapped with the earthlie and cōsumeable Thinges: and must for-that-cause yeat daylie / deale and haue-to-do with thee 1.5 Euemies ether Aduersaries of the Life or Christ (which daylie inuade / tempt / and assault hym on euery-syde / for to plurk hym {reversed ;}with hisf 1.6 Will; after their deadlieg 1.7 Lustes and Destres): So can∣not the Man {reversed ;}in his Youngues of the holie Vnder∣standinge / or in his Weaknes of the godlye Righte∣ousnes; well ouercom or preuayle {reversed ;}at the first; in theh 1.8 Battaill of the same Assaultinges / withouti 1.9 stum∣bling or fallinge but well / in hisk 1.10 Oldnes of the holye Vnderstandinge.

AGainst these Assaultinges / the Man ought {reversed ;}in his Youngnes; to learne tol 1.11 take-vpp hys Crosse on hym to followe-after Christ ؛his Sa∣niour{punctel} in his like Sufferingm 1.12 and death of the Crosse and to shewe-fourthn 1.13 Pacience {reversed ;}with Christ; against all the Assaultinges / vntill that all the Enemies or Aduersaries of the louelie Life / through theo 1.14 Death of Christ [that is / in maner of sufferinge] be vtterlye vanquished: and that hee eauen so is growen vpp / tho∣rough the Death or Together-sufferinge of Christ [which is the daylyp 1.15 Oblatiō in the Holy] to the Old∣aigeq 1.16 of the Man Christ and entred {reversed ;}through the se∣conde Birthr 1.17 from the Dead; into the euerlastinge Life. Which Passaige or Waye to the euerlastinge Life / wee haue witnessed and figured-fourth distince∣lie and cleerlie / in the Figure of the true and spirituall Tabernacle / and in other-moe places / in the Glasse of Righteousnes.

[ B] EAuen-thus / my beloued Children / and thou Famelie of Loue / together with all yee Dis∣ciples of the gratious Woorde / in the Seruice of the Loue / and all yee Louers of the Trueth / and good∣willinge Heartes to the Testimonies of the holye Spirit of Loue / Let it not be tedious vnto you / to shew-fourths 1.18 Pacience for a little tyme / when-as the euell Thinges [namelie / the euell Inclinations and the deadlie Enemies of the Life] make them vp in you / andt 1.19 assault or tempt you / for to turne you away from the good Will that yee haue to the godlie Bee∣iuge / vnder the Obedience of the Loue.

For / after a little tymev 1.20 of your distresse / afflicti∣on / and angwish or heauynes / the Lorde will bringe his Christ [that is his best-beloued and most-holye Beeinge] in Powre and Glorye / vnto you: as alsox 1.21 tread-downe in you / and laye vnder your Feete / all your Enemies (which are also Aduersaries of the godlie Beeinge) that haue {reversed ;}with all Vnrighteous∣nes; dwelled in you / raigned ouer you / and brought all disquieenes / tedious-trauell / and veration vnto you.

6. YEa / eauen so will God now in these last Dayes / out of his heartie Loue {reversed ;}to the Blessingy 1.22 and Saluation of the Man / according to the Promises; take-in his Howse and Iuheritaunce {reversed ;}to his Habitation;z 1.23 with Righteousnes: and let you beholde {reversed ;}with the Eyes of a purea 1.24 Heart; wher-to hee hathb 1.25 created / chosenc 1.26 / and loued you.

7. For yee shall euidentlie see / and / ind 1.27 maner-of-suffering {reversed ;}through the Sufferinge of Christ; right-well perceaue / and finde-in-experience / that God / with his Christ / and Holye-gost / and with the hea∣uenlie

Fellowship of all the Holyōs / wille 1.28 inhabit with you / and lyue and walke in you. and that Hee assured∣lie is your Godf 1.29 / and yee his People. For Hee hath chosen none other Howse norg 1.30 Temple / for his Habit∣ation / h 1.31 but you / O yee godlye Children / or Commu∣nialtie of the Loue.

8. THerfore {reversed ;}O yee electedi 1.32 Children of God; For thissame Loues sake of your God {reversed ;}wherwith Hee loueth you; [ C] like-as Hee is now exten∣dinge the same / in thesek 1.33 last Dayes {reversed ;}accordinge to his Promises; in manifolde-sort and aboundantlie / on you / So geeue God now hysl 1.34 Roome: and thrust or keepe Hym not off from his O welling / in thissame Daye of your Sanctification.

9. Suffer not your selues to bem 1.35 vanquished by the Wicked / nor seduced by anyn 1.36 Contrarye-spirites to our mostholye Seruice of the Loue: but in Pacience / o 1.37 vanquish the Euell with the Good.

10. For / with the holie Spirit of the Loue / yee are able to resist / keepe-off / and quench-out / all Seduce∣inges risingp 1.38 through the Wylye-craftynes of Men / wherwith they inuade you / for to catch and seduce you.

11. But if yee chaunce to offende in anye-thinge / or that yee becom somtymesq 1.39 begyled through subtiltie. and sor 1.40 plucked-away from the holye Minde of the godlie Doctrine of the holy Spirit of Loue (whether it be then through your owne Wisdom / or through any Venym that yee receaue of the viperous Generation / which {reversed ;}through the Imagination of the Knowledge; soweth nothingels but mortall Seedess 1.41 / and Weedes {reversed ;}to an Intangleing; amonge the Children of Men) / yet bide not {reversed ;}for-al-that; lyinge in the deadlie Ve∣uym:t 1.42 but stand-vpp agayne / and repent / and refreash

or renewe your Minde in the godlye Doctrine / which {reversed ;}through the Spirit of the louelie Beeinge of God; becometh witnessed and taught in our most-holye Seruice of the Loue / So shall not theu the deadliev 1.43 Venym of the viperous Generation / nor your owne Wisedom / destroye you / nor-yet shall yee dye of their Woundes. but becom eured there-of / and made-whole againe: and go-fourth eauen so alwayes obe∣dientlie {reversed ;}accordinge to the Requiring of the gratious Woorde and of his Seruice of Loue / and accordinge to the Counsell of the Elders of the holy Vnderstand∣inge; in the verteousx 1.44 Nature of the Loue ؛the most∣holie Beeinge{punctel} / vntill that yee {reversed ;}with all your Heart and Minde; arey 1.45 established and strengthned Ther∣in / and that God aloue haue the Dominion.

[ D] BVt if it now so comtopas / O yee beloued Heartes {reversed ;}yee deerlie-beloued Children of the holie Spirit of Loue; thatz 1.46 anyoue should chaunce to synne / or ouerreach hymself in any-thinge: and per∣ceaue / that hee (by reason of hisa 1.47 vnablenes or weak∣nes) were fallen / Yet let not the same (whilst hee yeat {reversed ;}in his Youngnes; stādeth vnder the Discipline of the holie Spirit of Loue) suffer hymself to be iudged norb 1.48 condemned / by his Conscience / nor-yet {reversed ;}on the other syde; makec 1.49 small account of the Sinne / and so run̄e∣on lightmyndedlye therwyth: but let hymd 1.50 humble hymself to the Elders or Ministers of the Woorde in the Seruice of the Loue / and suffer hym to be re∣fourmed ande 1.51 instructed by them / in the gratious Woorde and hys Seruice of Loue: Those shall thenf 1.52 healp him vp againe from his Fall / and direct hym {reversed ;}aright; vnto the Waye of Life.

13. But let no-man iudge Hymself / mitch-lesse then Another: For wee haue {reversed ;}in our Communialtie of the Loue; a true Iudge / Iesus Christ ؛g 1.53 our Lorde and Ringe{punctel} / which executeth the righth 1.54 Iudg∣ment of his Father / according to the Trueth.

14. The same iudgethi 1.55 not after the Sight or Iudgment of Men / nor out of anye Imagination of the Knowledge / like as a Man iudgeth: but hee iudgeth with an vprightk 1.56 Iudgment / out of the true Beeinge of his Father.

15. Hee is vnto vs {reversed ;}in all our Walkinge;l 1.57 a Foun∣taine of Life / and to a Making-alyue of vs all / m 1.58 against the Death and the deadlie Venyme of the Sinne.

16. Wee haue also {reversed ;}through Hym; a daylien 1.59 Of∣feringe in the Holye of his spirituall and true Ta∣bernacle.

17. Into which Holie / hee is gon before vs: and ther-in Hee hymself bearetho 1.60 our Synnes / through his Sufferinge and Death of the Crosse. Wher∣through Hee sheweth or teacheth vs the vpright Offer∣inge for our Syunes: and prepareth for vs eauen so a free Entraunce with Hym / p 1.61 into the Holye / to an eternall and liuinge Waye.

18. [ E] WHen wee now are entred into this Holye / with Hym / so manneth hee then hymself with vs / to an Implantinge of vs in hym / with the likeq 1.62 Death of his Crosse / for to cru∣ciste and slaye eauen so {reversed ;}through his Sufferinge and Death; the sinfull Fleash / r 1.63 with his Lustes and Desyres.

From which Death {reversed ;}that wee sox 1.67 dye or passe∣thorowe with Christ; wee arisey 1.68 or stand-vpp againe with Hym and all his Holyons (which Hee {reversed ;}eauen like as Vs; hathz 1.69 bought and fanctified with his Bloud): and becom eauen so godded with the eternall / liuinge / and almightie Godeas true Children of God vnto Hym; in all Ionea 1.70 and Glorye / for to possesse heyrlikeb 1.71 the Kingdom of God and Christ / in the euerlastinge Life / accordinge to thec 1.72 Promises: ea∣uen-like as the Scripture mentioneth vnto vs.

21. [ F] FOr-that-cause {reversed ;}my beloued Iufances in the Loue; forsake not {reversed ;}in any-wise;d 1.73 the Crosse of Christ / nor his Gulft or Meate-offeringe: nor-yet heape you vp to yourselues / one Sinnee 1.74 vpon ano∣ther: but take-vppf 1.75 your Crosse: followe-aftter Christ / the Scoole-of-grace: becom implanted to Hym / bap∣tised in hysg 1.76 Death / washed with his Bloud / and so purged / to the Forgeeuing of your Synnes.

22. Doubt nor dispaire not of your Saluation: nor-yet becom youh 1.77 feeble-minded in your Spirit. Feare not also / although your Synnes {reversed ;}which make-vpp themselues against you; be many and many folde and although that you finde your-selues yeat infirme and weake: but bei 1.78 of good cheere / and bide alwayesk 1.79 stedfast in the good Will.

23. For wee haue / ouer our mostholye Seruice of the Loue {reversed ;}and ouer all such as humble them ther∣vnder; a gratious and mercifull God / which know∣eth well what wee arel 1.80 able to do. Hee doth also right∣well see-into and beholde the Heart / what wee theare will and desire.

If wee then desire in our Youngnes and Weaknes / to lyue {reversed ;}with whole Heart; in Gods holye Beeinge: and yet notwithstandinge stumble / stagger or fall someimes / m 1.81 against our will / So loketh Hee in like-maner {reversed ;}with gratious Eyes; on our Iufirmitie or Weaknes. Yea / Hee hymself hath alson 1.82 Compassi∣on with vs in our Weaknes and Smartes: and bea∣reth {reversed ;}with Pacienceo 1.83 and Longe-sufferinge; our Synnes: requiringe no more of vs / then wee are able to do.

25. SEeinge now then that wee {reversed ;} [ G] in thissame Daye of the Loue; haue obtayned such Grace and Mercye / before the Mosthighest / so take then good-heede {reversed ;}Oyee chosen Holyons of God; to hissamep 1.84 gratious Tyme / to the Purginge of your Spirit andq 1.85 Minde / vnder the Obedience of the Loue: and ceasse not tor 1.86 sigh and praye vnto your God / vntill that yee haue fealt and tasted in your Spirit {reversed ;}with Eyes of pures 1.87 Heartes; the Refreash∣ing from the cleere and vncoueredt 1.88 Face of Christ.

26. WHerfore / when-as now your stumbling and fallinge / becometh daylye figured very great and horrible before you: and that yee for∣that-cause {reversed ;}beeinge wofull of heart; feele yeatv 1.89 the Prickinges of the Synne / the Dartes of the Death / and the Condemnation of the Hell / or beare the same / with angwish; in your Heartes / Yet feare not / nor the dismayed in your Heartes:x 1.90 but shewe-fourthy 1.91 Pacience: andz 1.92 followe-after Christ / in his Suffer∣inge.

27. For those are the Dayesa 1.93 of Affliction / Hea∣••••yes / and Death / wher-in Christ hath gon before you / in the Holye / for to prepare you {reversed ;}through the∣sameb 1.94

In this tyme of your Sufferinge and An∣gwish {reversed ;}with Christ; for your Synnes cause / geeue your-selues daylyec 1.95 vnto Prayer: (Leaue not of to praye vnto God / vntill that yee {reversed ;}through the holye Spirit of Loue; becom at-peace in your Conscienced 1.96 incorporated with your Spirit and Minde / to the louelie Beeinge of God ande 1.97 comforted eauenso by God {reversed ;}in the Communialtie of the Loue; in your Heartes:) And let eueryone praye vnto God {reversed ;}f 1.98 in the Spirit; after this maner
