But must not we go vnto God by Saints, as we goe to the king, and the prince by Earles and Councellors?
This is a wretched excuse, saith Ambrose: for therefore do men go to the king by tribunes and Earles, because the king likewise is a man, and knoweth not to whom he ought to commit the com∣monwealth.
