men (for Christ alone in this respect is Mediator) but of comfort, namely, teaching vs to pray, comforting the afflicted, teaching the truth, begetting those vnutterable gronings, of which Paul spea∣keth Rom. 8.25.26. He is called the Spirit of trutha 1.3, because he tea∣cheth the truth effectually. Also the spirit of adoptionb 1.4, because he sea∣leth vp the adoption of the sonnes of God in our hearts. Also the Spirit of sanctification or the holy Ghostc 1.5, not so much in regard of his essence, as for his effectsd 1.6.
